Default nonmedicated way to manage PCOS?

    Hello!

I have been on bcp for many years and recently started back on them as they control my pcos symptoms the best. However, recently after having gallbladder surgery, they found a tumor on my liver resulting from long term use of bcp (never knew that could happen). I have been advised by the surgeon to stop bcp. I havent checked with my OB yet, but I do plan to get off the bcp so the tumor doesnt get any bigger. Im just wondering what else can I do to manage my pcos? If I cant do any hormones at all, will I just have to deal with the syptoms and treat them as they arise? If anyone has any info/advice its much appreciated! thanks much!

I do not take any meds and have been managing with proper diet and exercise. I don't like putting chemicals into my body and it seems to be working pretty well.

Diet and exercise are probably the best way, a low GI diet is usually good for PCOS. There are a lot of herbs that can help too, Vitex seemed to help me. I don't know if by no meds you mean no herbs as well.

I've gotten fed up with all the meds the drs want to pump in me, so I'm on the Insulite program, which entails supplements, eating right, and exercising. This is my second day on it so I can't say much about it yet. But my first day went well and I didn't have any weird side effects.

I manage my PCOS with diet and exercise (it was in control before I ever started Metformin/Glucophage). My bloodwork, ovaries, etc., are all normal. My only 'symptom' is unexplained infertility, still.

Severe male factor and borderline PCOS.

I agree with all of the previous posters! I have never taken any medications (ever) and I wasn't about to start now. I have been doing a low glycemic diet for 9 months now and it's going great. Almost everything is gone as far as symptoms. Including: I now have a regular cycle on my own, dark spots on my neck are gone (as well as elbows, etc) acne is gone, I have lost 72 lbs as of today, and I feel great!

I encourage people with PCOS all the time to try curing the symptoms without medication, so I am so happy to see you do this for you and your body!!! It's a far better way, and things we should be eating and doing exercises anyway. Right?

See my profile for more ideas

Doing Low GI diet as of Sept. 07. DX with PCOS in Sept 07' as well.

    Started at a size 24, now a size 14. My waist was 44", now it's 32".

I am on no medication, just diet and exercise.

Thank you all for your support and information! I encourage all of you to do a Low Glycemic diet!
