    Default Lightheadedness, sense of "detachment"

Sometimes during the day I have feelings of lightheadedness to the point where I almost feel "detached" from the environment. Sort of like I'm half asleep and dreaming. I'm wondering if this might be a sign that my blood sugar is out of whack? I'm also tired all the time. Am I crazy or has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks

It could be low blood sugar. Mine have gotten so low that I sort of experience and out of body type thing.

I've also heard people describe mini seizures like that.

I used to get massive lightheadedness in the shower. Like i would be standing there and almost black out. Not sure if this has anything to do with blood sugar or PCOS, but there you have it. I haven't had it in a very long time but when it happened it was horrible.

Well, I've had the light headed and detached feeling from time to time too. BUT I've noticed that when I get those feelings, I've usually forgotten to take my levothyroxcin that day. Have you have your thyroid checked?

I get lightheaded and that detached feeling a lot and when that happens I'm usually fatigued. I've had my thyroid checked and it came back normal, and also had insulin resistance checked to see if I have it and I don't. This all was just checked approx. 2 months ago. I'd like to know if anyone has any info on this!!! It is really annoying when I'm at work and it happens.

Thanks everybody. For the longest time I thought this was just happening to me. I'll definitely talk to my doc about it.

No, I haven't had my thyroid checked but I will ask about it when I go to the dr. in November.

    Thanks for the advice.

ahhh! I had this a while ago and it drove crazy. I used that same word - "detached" - and no one understood what I meant and even my doctor basically said "I don't know what's wrong, I don't know what to do"

I ended up figuring out that a medicine I was on (bentyl) was doing it (because I went out of town and forgot it one weekend, so I didn't take it all weekend, and I felt loads better). For a long time I was taking my blood pressure and checking my blood sugar every time it happened (on the suggestion of my doctor) and never find any correlation. I've also been taking iron every day and that has helped with the detachment and my headaches tremendously. My aunt (an opthamologist) said that it could also be a symptom of a (painless) migraine.

FWIW, my thyroid was checked while this was going on but it was fine. I started a thread when it was happening to me too, and someone said that they had a friend who felt this way and she finally figured out that it was some mold in the walls of her house that she was allergic to. I was afraid that was it for a while, until I went on a weeklong vacation and it didn't get any better.

Do you eat a lot of gluten grains (wheat, bread, pasta, etc.)? I used to get "brain fog" from a yeast/bacteria imbalance in my system that caused all kinds of symptoms ranging from yeast infections to dry eyes to itchy ears to skin rashes and this "brain fog". I got rid of it by re-balancing the yeast in my system through colon clensing, gluten-free diet, exercise, and prescription yeast infection stuff.

I felt this way last Friday. It was one of those times where you're driving somewhere and get to your destination and then think "how did I get here?! I don't even remember the drive!" which was scary, since my office is over 30 minutes away! But then once I thought about it, I think it was dehydration. The day before, *nothing* I ate agreed with me and...TMI...I did #2 like 8 times! Then I went for a long walk after work, so I sweated some, and all I had to drink that day was about 6 oz. milk, 32 oz. of water, and a glass of wine. So anyway, if you're on Met and it causes diarrhea for you, take care to keep yourself hydrated.
