    Default Anyone else have rages?

I'm not sure if this is due to hormones or depression or what but I get these rage attacks sometimes, just stupid little things will set me off and in my mind I start screaming and wanting to break things or hurt someone, but on the outside I'm just quivering and silent. These attacks sometimes last for an hour or more and I can't be talked to during them. Anyone else have this problem, or any tips on coping with them?

    thanks

I definitely have this problem. I was never like this until it got on metformin and my cycles became regular. It usually happens the day before AF shows up so at least I know that it's hormonal and not just an anger issue.

I'm sorry you have to go through this... I know that when it happens to me, it helps to take a breather and organize my thoughts on what I'm getting angry about. I also try and stay away from everyone until I calm down. Hopefully someone has better ideas, but this is the way I've dealt with it thus far. Good luck to you!

This happened to me last winter. I had low iron, folic acid and vitamin d. I not only felt rages, but I would cry at the drop of a hat and wanted to die. Went on mega doses of vitamins and all better now.

You are not alone. I have these too. They used to happen a lot, but they have lessened a little bit recently (from everyday to maybe 1-2 a week) and I have no clue why. Usually it is the stupidest thing that I will get mad about and I get so angry that I have a hard time controlling myself from screaming (usually at my husband). During these I can't be talked to and just need to be left alone to cool down for awhile. In the past if my husband doesn't allow me enough time to cool off it will almost always end up in a huge fight. Later on, I realize my thoughts and feelings were totally irrational, but at the time I usually can't see it.

I have learned that when I feel one of these "rages" coming on it is best for me to be away from everyone until it subsides. I usually try to channel these negative thoughts/feelings into cleaning my house, which usually helps me feel better faster.

I wish I knew why these occured. I'm assuming it is due to some imballance. Good luck.

I used to have those every now and then and my doc said it may have been my testosterone levels. Since my testosterone went down, I haven't had anything severe. I do have all the other fun hormonal mood swings, etc. My hormones are still balancing out majorly, so I'm just trying to ride the waves and be thankful that I have a VERY understanding husband.

When I had that rage, it did help to give myself some sort of catharsis. Screaming into a pillow or breaking a cheap dish seemed to get things out...lol. Does that sound crazy?

I understand where you are coming from, and my poor husband usually gets the brunt of it, and I think it's because, deep down I know I can yell at him, and he'll still love me.......after a little while, I kind of linked it to low blood sugar. sounds funny, but once I got on metformin, and my insulin and hormones were stablized, my husband said he notices way less mood changes, I'm usually happy all day, versus, being happy, then really annoyed and yelling, and then happy again.....

Yes, I totally understand you. Sometimes, my emotions just overwhelm me, and I lose it. This is strange for me, because I am typically not emotional. I'm definitely not a cryer, and really do pride myself on my level head. But, about three years ago, I began to notice that as my period decided to show up (which was not often), my hormones just went NUTS. I think the anger was probably related to this hormone influx, especially because I was lucky to get 7 periods a year.

However, it's gotten so much better in the last year, which I think is partially do to my weight loss. My body is beginning to feel more balanced, which no doubt helps regulate other things, too.

I experienced this for years. After the ovarian drilling procedure I underwent this past May, however, I noticed the rages came far less frequently. This observation was confirmed by my guy.

I agree with a PP that noted it's best to isolate yourself during a rage. I noticed I was NOT myself, and as much as I try to be poised and self-disciplined in daily life, I found myself completely out of control emotionally. Thanks to the hormonal (and subsequent behavioral) change since the surgery, I firmly believe it's due to a chemical/hormone imbalance.

I get these. I honestly don't know how my OH puts up with it, sometimes I can't even stand me lol. Hopefully after I've seen the gynae and worked out what (if any) treatment I'll be a nicer person!

I've been the same way lately - and it needs to stop! My husband has been very nice about it, but I still feel terrible

I have the same thing. I used to think I was crazy, but when I got dx. with PCOS my gyn asked me about my temper. She said that it was my high levels of testosterone that make me get so angry like that.

I too have the same problem sometimes, but esp. on Clomid. I posted somewhere before that I broke a closet door when my DH didn't want to BD...kinda defeats the purpose huh? Now whenever I go on Clomid, he hides for about a week.

Also, I get it before AF. Since I am SO irregular when I'm not medicated to the max the whole cycle, I won't realize it. My DH will usually announce after some kind of stupid meltdown, "what is wrong with you? Oh, I know what's wrong with you, you are going to have a BAD period.." Which, of course throws me into a worse rage. He is always right BTW....but by that time I'm not mad anymore...

I am a very nice person, I swear. My poor DH, he also always gets the brunt of it...

I get "the rage" too and I hate it. I usually end up yelling at my poor puppy dogs for no reason :-(
