Have you thought about doing Lupron? That is what I'm going to do. If you have endometriosis, you need something to keep it from growing and causing pain. Lupron would be cheaper and you would need 6 months on it so that would give you some time to save money and vacation time. Just a thought. Or -- even better -- if it is endo and Lupron works, the endo will shrink in those 6 mos and pregnancy will be eaiser. That is why I'm doing Lupron - to get pregnant

Isn't Lupron a form of hormone therapy? I researched and discussed a lot of options before having this surgery and hormone therapy blocks conception. Is Lupron an exception to this? I might have to look into it more. Initially it looks like it's a 6-month process. I tried to find a thread somewhere on here that had a discussion on it but couldn't. Can you explain it just a little for me please? Thank you =] Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

You are correct - you cannot get pregnant on Lupron. It puts you in a menopausal state. I was just thinking if you want to shrink the endometriosis without doing surgery again sooner (and Lupron is cheaper), it might be a good option.

At the end of my 6 months we are hoping to get pregnant. After 6 months most women are pain free for about a year. Which sounds great to me!!!

Of course it may not be the best option for you, but I was thinking if you want to do something now and get started - it's worth a shot. Plus, if you do have endometriosis, it's not good to let it grow uncontrolled - that will impact fertility.

Endo is so difficult.....while trying to get pregnant it can grow and spread and cause pain - which is where I've ended up. It depends on how much you are struggling with Endometriosis symptoms. I can barely walk days when the pain is bad. We're going to do the Lupron then try for the "pain free" year and if that does not work, we'll go to IVF. That's our plan - it feels good to have one even if we don't know how things will go.

    Good luck with your decision!!!

    Hi evabear!

I just had to respond once I read through this thread! I know you have heard everything, but you really might want to find another dr. One who specializes in "problems" and surgeries.

I had a laparoscopy at nearly 250-260 lbs. 5'5. That is OBESE. Although my main problem was my ovaries, my dr. found endometriosis too but not enough that needed to be removed. I couldn't believe they could find my parts (and I was a big girl) but they filled me w/ gas, my dr. did an ovarian wedge resection & manuevered around to find my endometriosis on the BACK of my uterus.

I'm so sorry for all the pain you went thru & stress from missing time at wrk & everything. But it really sounds like that dr. looked at his watch & sd lets wrap this up in the middle of your surgery. Just the way he and his staff have treated you made me angry b/c the least they could do is call you back & call your husband. I would not give him the opportunity to operate on me again.

I had 4 incisions where they went in & I had normal periods after that. I know this is not endo, but my dr. did my surgery & a girl who had endo on the same date. She left the hospital the next day, days before I did, & I ran into her a couple of weeks later & she was doing great. I on the other hand healed much much slower.

Okay...just please please please find a dr. w/ proper bedside manners & HONESTY who cares about your body & you in general. I did not want to make u feel bad, but I hope u don't let that dr. do anything more invasive or foul-up again. You should've been given info. on how to prep for surgery & everything. At least a pamphlet or brochure or something.

I wish u the best and get that FMLA paperwork if u can so you can relax & know that u still have ur job next time while u heal.

Thank you for your post, Sister! It was very helpful and uplifting. I am definitely going to go to a doctor who can help me next time...and I will be more careful when choosing this time! I have decided I won't be going back to Dr. "R," due to what has happened. It's too bad - I really liked him before and he took such good care of me when I had my Bartholin cyst. Oh well.

Something else is going on now...I talked to my boss about this surgery. She had it, also - and is overweight. She used to be much heavier, but she had gastric bypass surgery. Anyway, she said the D&C is what they did before lap surgeries were available, and when it wasn't serious for a traditional, more invasive surgery. She said the D&C used to help people relieve pain and it sometimes cleared the way for sperm so they could conceive. I tend to get really optimistic when I get pregnancy-related symptoms...morning sickness, sore breasts...whatever. Anyway, I have a new one - one I've never had before! I have been having very, very vivid dreams every single night for over a week! At first I thought maybe it was just the anesthesia leaving my system...but it just keeps happening every night! I'm experiencing extreme emotions - laughing, crying, happiness, sadness, etc. - and remembering every detail from each one...even now. Could just be wishful thinking but...I'm keeping my fingers crossed. =D

    Thanks again, Sister!

I had a D&C done b/c I had thick lining, but non stop bleeding and to see if everything was OK since I wasn't getting pregnant. Just remember a D&C has nothing to do with diagnosing Endometriosis or helping Endometriosis.

    Good luck
