Thread: Catholic Cysters Corner Part II

Novgirl, Thanks for challenging me. I found this forum at http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=39018&highlight=fertility+drugs and in regards to clomid and other fertility drugs that just help a woman ovulate it said...

Fertilitydrugs can be used; however, “as with all medical interventions on patients, one must uphold as licit procedures carried out on the human embryo which respect the life and integrity of the embryo and do not involve disproportionate risks for it but are directed towards its healing, the improvement of its condition of health, or its individual survival.”
    Donum Vitae

“Donum Vitae teaches that if a given medical intervention helps or assists the marriage act to achieve pregnancy, it may be considered moral; if the intervention replaces the marriage act in order to engender life, it is not moral.

Fertilitydrugs may also be used, with the caution that large multiple pregnancies may put mother and infants at risk.

The many techniques now used to overcome infertility also have profound moral implications, and couples should be aware of these before making decisions about their use. Each technique should be assessed to see if it is truly moral, that is, whether or not it promotes human good and human flourishing. All these technologies touch in some way on innocent human life."

    Hope this explains my stance...
It is nice to know that there are options out there for us women that want to keep our personal and catholic beliefs intact.

It looks erratic, but it's really not... the scale was just really zoomed in. My temps usually stay around 97.4ish, then jump up to 98.7, so when the jump happens, it's easy to see. There, I changed the scale, it looks a little less erratic when zoomed out

Do you have a link for your chart? Yours might be the same way...

Thanks! No I dont have my charts online, just on paper. I dont think I am ovulating because my temps are so crazy. One day it will be at 96.9 the next 97.8 and then down to 97.1...they are all over the place. I do it before I get out of bed and everything too!

Did you notice your temps working before clomid, or just after staring clomid?

Do you take them at the same time every day? If you're taking them before you get out of bed, but at different times, that could explain the difference... I take mine everday at 6:30am, then I go back to sleep.

My temps stay relatively the same during clomid.. this is only my second cycle. This is what my first cycle looked like: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1f81a0

My temp dipped after I got done with clomid the first time, but hasn't this second time, I'm not sure what that means (if it means anything). Just gotta wait and see, I guess

Yeah I take it at the same time every morning, 5:30 when I get up for work. I think that my thyroid might have something to do with it. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens when I start taking clomid! Good luck to you!!

Before clomid, I didn't have any kind of normal cycle (went on for months, no O), so hopefully it helps you like it did me!

    Good luck!

Thanks, I cannot wait to get on it! I would go months without O also! Are you using an ovulation test now? Is it accurately predicting O while on clomid. I know I cannot use it now, it tells me wierd things now, and the box says that if you have pcos problems it probably wont work.

I used them last cycle, and they worked like a charm... some folks have said they have problems with them though. It might be worth experimenting with. I've got a pack for testing this cycle, I'll probably start tomorrow.

    Hi Cysters,
I was charting (on paper) for a few months with a very erratic chart. I am a restless sleeper and fall asleep hard in the early evening (sometimes 7:30 or 8) and then toss and turn from 2:30 - 5:30, then I fall asleep dead tired until my alarm at 6:15. I found that charting just didn't work for me. I think it is the stress, because I have been off work all week and I haven't had a sleepless night yet!
My priest suggested taking 5 minutes each night to pray and just "listen". I end up having this outpouring of emotion, unwinding I guess. It works if I do it before I get tired, but sometimes if I have had a really bad day, I am dozing off as I am cleaning up the supper dishes...
Anyway, that was the long way around to not doing the BBT thing.
Anyone have any good stress buster ideas?

When I was going through IVF and my ability to do my regular exercise (which is quite the stress buster!) was restricted, I started doing yoga. I've continued doing it over the years, and it is amazing for stress (when my father was going through cancer treatments I did yoga every day). During the IVF I also would do VERY gentle/slow walks on the treadmill while reading fun magazines and watching HGTV.

thanks oldhousegirl! I forgot about yoga...
I have a Wii with Wii Fit and there is a yoga module on there. I will start that back up!
Should I do it before bed?
