I was diagnosed about a year ago but have not really had any treatment. My gynecologist is not very familiar with PCOS and has really been no help at all. I have been prescribed medroxy to bring on a period and clomid 50 mg on days 4-8 for ovulation. My doctor has not really given me any info, so I pretty much go by what I read on the net. I get so frustrated sometimes that I just feel like sitting here and crying. I know that is not the way to deal with it though and I try to be strong. Any info about clomid and just PCOS in general would be a great help. What I really want to know is when taking clomid when can i expect ovulation to occur and is it after taking the whole 5 days or after your first pill. Other than that please let me know some important facts about PCOS and any other kind of medications I can be taking. I have heard some things about metformin but my doctor said that he would rather not do that until he sees how the clomid works. I've heard that taking metformin can help with most of the symptoms I have (excessive hair all over my body, darkening of the skin, skin tags, acne, excessive weight gain, amenorrhea, infertility) but he says that he would rather not give it to me just yet. Also when I asked questions about what I can do about my symptoms he said that he couldn't help me with any of it except they trying to concieve part. My gp was worst, he actually asked me to remind him what PCOS was. LOL. I feel helpless and alone. I live in a fairly small town and I have nowhere to turn to for help with this. INFORMATION PLEASE
THANKS TO ALL
SHELLY

If your doctor will not help you I would recommend seeing a different gynecologist and perhaps they will refer you to an endocronologist (hormone and genetics specialist). Hope this helps!!
