    Question Is it possible....?

I was just wondering if it's possible that the PCOS and depression/anxiety go hand in hand? I'm new to this whole thing and I have a feeling that I should have been diagnosed when I was 16 and noticed irregular cycles. Instead of investigating further, my doc just put me on BCP to regulate me. So now, 10 years later, when I went off the pill because I'm getting married in June and want to try to get pregnant, I was diagnosed with PCOS. It was like a slap in the face. I also suffer from severe anxiety/depression, which WAS diagnosed when I was 16. I've noticed that my anxiety level has shot through the roof since starting the Metformin about 3.5 weeks ago.

Does anyone else have this problem? I am going to talk to my primary doctor about maybe not having to be on Wellbutrin or maybe upping it? I just want the anxiety to stop. It's only really bad during the night, and for those of you who suffer from anxiety, you know how bad it can be. I'm tired of taking pills for it, but, nothing else seems to help.

A lot of cysters have depression and anxiety, so imo they go hand in hand.

Have you tried counseling too? It helped me out by teaching me to replace negative thoughts with positive ones (that sounds easy, but I found it very hard to do lol). Positive thinking combined with self hypnosis really helped me with the anxiety/depression I used to get.

    Hi,

I'm more than positive that depression/anxiety goes hand in hand with pcos. The doctor put me on bcp as well when my AF completely stopped. They didn't try to run any test on why my cycles stopped. I now want to get pregnant and can't. I've had so many days and nights of depression to where it made me sick. Once you have a great support system behind you, things will get better. My bf is wonderful and tries to stay with me through all of this. Just as etuc said above, you should replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Its not easy at all but I find that method to actually work. Since I've found this site, I have been feeling better and my anxiety and depression haven't been so bad. It will get better. Metformin has actually helped me rather than hurt me so I'm grateful for that. Find your support system and take it from there. HTH!!
