for anyone who has had multiple pregnancy losses

Does anyone know of any tests they could run to find out what is causing so many miscarriages?? This morning i had my fifth miscarriage. This is the second one that i had massive hemorrhaging with. It seems like they get more painful each time i have one. i am going to my ob tomorrow at eleven and i am wondering what kind of tests they can do. I want a child so bad now. I am actually looking for a counselor because with all the losses i have had and all the problems that just seem to be going wrong with me i have been really depressed lately. When i was in the ER this morning i kept having thoughts of suicide. Its freaking me out!! I just want some answers.

oh hunny im so sorry to here what you've been through, i admire you so much.
persist and you will get answers, there is obviously a reason, just keep asking questions. My specialist told me that one test they like to do is to do one round of ivf, we're as they watch the sperm and egg unite and see what goes wrong.
im sorry i cant really help you, just want to let you know i sympathise with you and stay strong, nothing is impossible! god bless.

Hang in there hun. Make sure you get the help you need first of all, and take care of yourself. It's very trying. I just suffered my second loss, I can only imagine what it would feel like after 5

Has your doctor done a repeat loss panel? They could check for clotting disorders, chromosonal issues, etc... there's also luteal phase defects, progesterone deficiencies...

I hope your doctor is willing to make sure everything is okay. If not, it's time to find a new doctor. Most doctors are aggressive about repeat loss testing after 3 losses.

I agree with the pp regarding the clotting panel. I had bleeding with my last 3 pregnancies and discovered that I have a clotting disorder. I was diagnosed before my last pregnancy and took Lovenox injections twice daily and now have my boys!!

I agree with the previous posters. Ask, no, DEMAND for a recurrent pregnancy loss testing from your doctor.

it could be low progesterone...Also, some doctors really advise peopele to wait for 6-8months before they start TTC after a misscarige..Something to do with body gets into the habit of misscarrying...
i so feel for you.. i misscaried 3 times..

sorry for your losses. i had my 3rd loss last month and the dr ordered a full aray of tests. go back for results on the 30th. If you cant get your dr to do something you need to find another dr. miscarriage is hard on your body but harder on your heart. i still struggle when i see a pregnant woman.... let yourself greive. its ok to feel anyway you feel but make the dr at least test for what he can test for...xoxo

I am so sorry for all your losses. I have experienced 2 losses and my heart goes out to you. I would encourage you get some testing completed so you can try and find some answers. If your MD will not listen to you, it might be time to see another MD. I also want to encourage you to talk with your MD about the self harm thoughts; seeing a counselor/therapist might also be helpful in processing the significant amount of grief you are experiencing. Please take care of yourself and ask for help.

Went back to the doc on Friday. She told me that she is definitely ready to start testing and investigating, i did not even have to ask her. The first thing we have to do is let my hormone levels get back down to zero. i got my levels tested today to make sure that they are starting to falls and i go back on March 31st to make sure that they are at zero. Two weeks after they fall to zero we are going to start out with blood tests and a procedure that makes sure my uterus is not oddly shaped. She told me that she recommends not getting pregnant until i have gone through two normal cycles. My doctor is so understanding and she is the first doc that actually made me feel like i was just not another patient.

A good doctor can make all the difference that is for sure. with my 1st 2 losses i was going to a family clinic who were so unfeeling and just were so ready to send me else where without one single test. when i got pg the 3rd time i went to another dr that people had recommended. and even though i lost that baby also he has been proactive trying to help me find ouut why this keeps happening. sending baby dust to all that are TTC.

Hi and I'm sorry for your losses. I have had 3 myself. I would definately opt for the RPL testing. I had it done after I got into an RE's office and I was found to have MTHFR, APS, PCOS and a uterine septum that has been misdiagnosed as a bicornuate uterus. Even if you have to fight for your testing fight for it. I had to fight for mine b/c with the diagnosis of the BU my dr refused to do any testing and was blaming my losses on that even though 1st trimester losses are not indicative of BU. I hope you find some answers soon.

I have been wondering what to do as well. I had my first miscarriage at 5 weeks in December and had the immunos/clotting panel ran. They usually run that with multiple losses, but mine was so DRAMATIC and SCARY that I made them due it after the first one.

I then had my period in end od January and was told it was okay to proceed. I got pregnant right off the bat and miscarried twins at 5 weeks again. (that was two wks ago)
The only difference is this time I managed to obtain a sample (hate that word sample...baby..embryo....my hopes and dreams!)

I am still waiting on the tests. If they come back positive for chromosone issues, my husband and I will have genetic testing done (more bloodwork). If it comes up the fetus was fine, my doctor wants me to have laproscopy done so he can look around in my uteruss and tubes and clean them out.......

Do you all have any other thoughts on what I can suggest, because I feel like if all this testing is done and it happens again....I will have to give up. I don't want to give up, so I need to assure myself that next time I will have done every test and everything in my power to prevent this from happening again.

Your ideas are much appreciated!

Lnamreep, have they tested your progesterone levels ? I would have that checked during you luteal phase. Low progesterone cause losses, typically early losses. I'm sorry for your loss. I HTH
