I completely understand where you are coming from! I got my diagnosis of pcos yesterday when the dr finally after a month of waiting shared the results of my u/s. I had 8+ follicles in each ovary. After getting off bcp's for 6 years back in Aug 08, I didnt get af for 3 months and also decided to go see the dr. She prescribed provera and I got af. Well I temped and did cbefm and everything was all over the place. B/W said hormones are within normal limits. Diabetes runs in the family, but I dont beleive I have it. My dr is more interested in meds also than finding out why I have it. All she wants to do is put me on Clomid and then ship me to a RE if that doesnt work. I feel as if she just wants to get rid of me since I'm going to be a hard case most likely. I read this...it might help:
"One of the
standard questions we ask are "What is the least you have
weighed in your adult life?" and "were you an athlete?" We
want to know if there was a time of low estrogen production
that may have "set up" the pattern of PCOS. There is
excellent evidence that once this ratio is altered, it sets up a
pattern of functioning in the ovaries that will persist into
adulthood, i.e., PCOS."
jarrettfertility-search this in google to get link.
The site has a lot more info on thin pcos, so go to the link above and see if it helps. I know they dont have a perfected criteria for diagnosing pcos, or way of treating it, or even know why it happens to women. It's frustrating, but hopefully more research will be done and they will be able to help us more.
Hang in there and try not to stress about it too much. I find researching too much can cause me all kinds of stress, so dont spend hours reading trying to figure it all out, you'll just go nuts!
