I was on Wellbutrin for a while. I stopped taking it because I was worried about any long term effects. Did you have a question about the drug?

I take it...have been on it for about 8 months. The only real side effects I noticed were that I was thirsty more often.....I drink about a gallon of water a day. What long term effects have you heard of?

I actually ended up losing a lot of weight when I was taking this drug it works similarly to a certain weight loss drug and supresses appetite in some people. The insomnia can possibly be avoided by reducing caffeine intake, and making sure to take the pill in the morning. I did make the mistake of taking it at night for a while and was climbing off the walls all night. Also, I believe I remember reading that prolonged use of this drug can increase your seizure threshhold if you are at risk already. This effect is greatly reduced when taking the extended release forms (SR, XL).

I have been on wellbutrin over a year. I've been on prozac and some others as well but I generally build up a tolerance after a few months. I thought I had built up an immunity to wellbutrin as well and started taking it less then quit taking it just to see if it made a difference (i'm ttc) and I felt horrible. I had no desire to get out of bed, so it does help me alot. I am not looking fwd to when I get pregnant and i have to eliminate it.

I have noticed that when I don't take it for a few days then I take it, it does give me a ton of energy and makes it hard to sleep. but after a week or so I am back to 'normal'

Overall it is one of the safer depression meds if you need to be on a prescription med. I had a psychiatrist prescribe it to me at first but I don't see her anymore and my family doc has no issues continuing my prescription.

I took Wellbutrin for a while, but I took myself off of it when I didn't feel any better or worse without it. . . I never lost weight without dieting while on it. . . in fact, I have gained weight since taking it. I think you need a certain dosage for weight loss. . .
