Default Hi ladies! Im in a terrible rut and could use your help!

I lost my job on March 20th (that makes myself AND my husband now!), and with that I lost my insurance benefits, medical, prescription ect.
During that time...matter of fact the day before I was laid off, I had a Drs appt and my Dr ordered some lab work to be done. I was taking metformin (1500mg) however at that time I only had 3 more pills left, my prescription had 0 refills and she was on the verge of refilling it but wanted me to complete the labs first. I had been taking metformin for 3 yrs. It works well for me besides the tummy issues which are not a major concern for me because I still get more good results from met, rather than bad ykwim.

So heres my question. Obviously I cant afford to go back to my Dr without insurance nor have any of the labs completed. Do any of you ladies take MET without a prescription and if so where do you get it from?
I probably sound like a drugee, but my pcos condition has worsened greatly since going off of MET. That includes weight gain (16lbs since march), acne, facial hair, ovarian pain, all of my PCOS symptoms have worsened greatly and I really need to go back on met. Ive tried the non prescription approach (Vitex, Cinnamon) in addition to the IR Diet and its not relieving any of my symptoms.

Anyone in this same situation and have some suggestions or such?

Also I should probably mention that while I was on met, my cycles were 28-32 days monthly.....I have not seen AF since going off of met.

I have heard that you can get Metformin for just $4 without insurance at Walmart or Kroger pharmacies. Try calling both and getting a price quote. I wish I could be of more help!

I am sorry you are having such problems. Is there any way you can talk to your doctor about other options since losing your insurance?? Jessi made a good point, some medications are still afordable without insurance, unless the problem is getting the prescription .

Hi, This may sound silly but I was in Portugal for summer holidays last year and left my metformin behind, so I went into a pharmacy and explained and they gave it to me over the counter, and it only cost 3 euro which is nothing for 1 month supply. Just a thought, maybe you could order from portugal????
I hope you and your hubby find work soon.
    Best wishes

I would call the doctor and explain that you lost your job and can't get the labwork done and ask if they can call in the prescription to the pharmacy, it's only $4.00 at walmart and target.
