Unhappy help!! all hair is falling out now

When my PCOS got really bad 3 years ago.....my hair started really falling out. It has sinc gone from thick full (almost too much) hair to soft, fine and barely wavy.

My question is this.... Has metformin halped anyone out there with hair loss?....It sems as thought it is falling out easier and is still not growing back.

So I am willing to hold out on the met working a little while longer....but any success stories would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I don't really know if met helps hair loss. I do know that what you describe as far as how your hair has changed sounds like the natural progression of androgenic alopecia or hair loss due to elevated testosterone.

From what I've read, the hair follicles become affected by the testosterone and with each cycle the follicle grows a thinner, finer more weaker hair. Eventually the hair becomes soft like a baby's hair and falls out. In women, the hair loss isn't total but a thinning all over the scalp. For whatever reason, some hairs are immune to the effects of the testosterone.

I don't know if met affects testosterone levels. If it did perhaps it would be helpful. Have you had your testosterone levels checked? If it is high, you might benefit from spironolactone which is supposed to lower the level.
