Hey thats great ! Congrats .I have never tried soy, please enlighten us , how much dose and what time in the cycle did u take it ? How long have u been on soy ?
soy is normally taken just like clomid. So CD 2-6, 3-7 ect. The amount taken is double however much clomid it took you to ovulate. If you've never been on clomid before the (seemingly) 'normal' starting point on soy is 100mg. It's an herbal suppliment that comes in capsule form, powder form and I think I even heard someone say they take it in liquid form though I may be thinking of something else. I'm on my very first soy cycle so I don't know if it's worked for me yet or not..but there are plenty of women on this forum that it has worked for so I've got my fingers crossed!
I know with Clomid that sometimes a certain dose will enlarge a follicle, but not have it totally develop, so you will see all of the signs of ovulation, but not REALLY ovulate. Then they will put you on a higher does the next month... so I think that taking a higher dose with no BFP when it is so low is okay.
Most of the stuff I have seen said to start Soy at 80mg, so I think you'd be totall fine.
I took 120mg CD4-8 a few months agao (the capsules I bought were 60mg and since the suggested starting dose was 80mg I had to decide between 60mg and 120mg... but I am a big girl so figured I'd go with the higher dose). I had LOTS of side effects including spotting, ovulation pain, implantation bleeding/cramping, and ended up pregnant (but miscarried).
I'm trying again this month, but am going with a lower dose hoping it'll work, but not cause as many side effects. We'll see, I can always go back up later, right?
Thanks Jen. I did 80mg on day 3 but 40mg days 4-7 because the other poster made me rethink my decision to increase the dosage! If I don't get pregnant this month, I may do 80 for all 5 days next month.
Also, I know it can create symptoms of ovulation without actually releasing an egg, but I took my temp last month and it definitely went up around day 18. So I'm 99% sure I ovulated.
Wow... I am so excited to get Soy I just found out about it last night and it would seem everyone is having really good results from it..
I am placing my order for it on friday so 150 mg is a good dose amount then.. I will have to remember that.
When do you take the soy? is it everyday or only during certain days? Sorry new to all of this.
Christine have you been on clomid before? I'm just going to quote myself from earlier I think...There are some great threads all about soy. We even have a soy cysters buddy group. Just look around and I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.soy is normally taken just like clomid. So CD 2-6, 3-7 ect. The amount taken is double however much clomid it took you to ovulate. If you've never been on clomid before the (seemingly) 'normal' starting point on soy is 100mg.
Wizrcam - If you haven't ever used Clomid you might want to start with something as low as 80mg. 80-100mg is the usual starting dose. I did 120 the time I used it, and it was quite a whammy!!! I am trying 60mg this month, hoping it doesn't have so many side effects but will still be enough to work.
I used it in Feb (we were aiming for a baby over Christmas Vacation and I wanted to increase my chances of hitting that window), and got a BFP the first month with the 120mg, so hopefully it will work again on a lower dose.
