Default Uncomfortable post IUI -- what's normal?

So, trigger on Tuesday evening, IUI on Wednesday and Thursday. I felt a lot of cramping and heaviness, weird twinges on Wed and Thurs. This all disappeared by Friday morning, so I assume that part of it was O pain. Well, by Friday evening I was feeling pretty bad. Saturday was awful. My abdomen felt so full and uncomfortable. Anything I did that used muscles in that area was awful. I spent all day Saturday in bed - this is not a normal thing for me. Today, Sunday, was a bit better, but still... I look 3 months pregnant and I can't button up any of my jeans.

What's normal? Since the pain isn't intense I assume I shouldn't call my RE. How long did it take for your trigger / ovary stimulation to go away? This is really uncomfortable.

(Not to mention a wardrobe crisis... j/k, sortof ;P Good thing I own skirts)

Ive stayed in skirts and loose close since. They told me it was because of the stim of the ovaries. Them being so large makes you feel bloated etc. I had lots of cramps/twingy feelings afterwards and still feel them sort of. I think its just a side effect of the meds, Im sorry its making you feel so crumby though.

I have had five IUI's, and have been pretty bloated and uncomfortable for up to a week after each one. It really hurt to go the bathroom. Hope you feel better soon.

I too triggered on Friday. Did IUI this morning. I would say since yesterday (Sat) my left ovary which is where the 2 biggies were (as of friday they were 20 and 17.5) I have no other way to explain it to my husband besides this...Like when you have bad gas and the pain just wont go away...It hurts when I take steps. Sex was just ucky...no fun there. I'm hoping it goes away soon. How the best for all of us.

I had my first IUI in May. Same thing happend to me. I was in so much pain about an hour after I had it done. Stayed in bed for 2 days. After the 2 days I just took it easy and didn't push it. Two weeks later, I had my first BFP and am now almost 13weeks pregnant. If the pain becomes too bad, def call your DR because it could be something else. Even still, call and let them know whats going on to make sure its normal. My pain went away after about 4 days but I was still a little bloated. Like I said, just take it easy. Your story sounds so much like me!

I was going to recommend calling your doctor as well. I used to work on a gynecology floor, and we had gotten a few patients over the years, who were admitted with ovarian hyperstim. Hyperstim is made worse if you become pregnant too. Good luck, hopefully the discomfort will go away soon, and you'll have your BFP

Hi Rachael, I had really severe bloating and some discomfort that lasted about 4 days (and BDing was out of the question b/c of discomfort). While those feeling are pretty normal when injecting, it sounds like your symptoms are getting worse not better? I recommend you calling you RE and see what they say...just to be on the safe side.

I called and they wanted me to come in for an evaluation... the good news is that the doctor said the fact that my discomfort is continuing for so long may be an indication that I am pregnant (though I only took the trigger on Tuesday, so that seems a bit early... then again, I got a dip and a huge jump in my bbt chart today... but, it just seems to early for that...).

Anyway, he took an u/s to see if my discomfort was being caused by "big ovaries or lots of fluid". Looks like it's the big ovaries. They're huge. Like twice the size of my uterus. I (and I assume many of you gals, too!) have grapefruits in my belly! There was fluid, as well, but he said it wasn't to much as to be dangerous.

He says if I am pregnant, the discomfort will keep up. I'm supposed to come back in if any of the following happen: shortness of breath, vomiting or rapid weight gain (eg, +5lb in one day).

Thanks everyone for your advice!! This site is amazing. DH saw me typing the original post and then rapidly receiving replies, and he said, "Wow, you girls really take care of each other, don't you?" and I said "Yup".

Rachael, I have a question...just curious. Is you RE having you take progesterone for your luteal phase? Some girls here do, but my RE says it's not necessary. I'm trying to figure out if I should push for my RE to give me it?

    I hope you are pregnant
