Thread: Maca works!

  1. #1

    Default Maca works!

My PCOS stomach is shrinking big time thanks to Maca (along with diet and other supplements) and my body is looking more balanced!

It's a root that balances your hormones. I got mine from whole foods and I'm taking it in pill form.

How much are you taking? Is yours just the maca or some blend with it in? Have you noticed a great increase in energy? Sorry for all the questions but this is the first time I have heard of maca.

i've been taking maca and vitex, along with fish oil b6 cinnamon and 88mcg of synthroid but i don't think i've been taking enough of the vitex and cinnamon. i'm going to up the dose and see what happens. i'm also adding baby aspirin and a different blend of oils including evening primrose and omega 3 6 and 9 with max dha and epa. i also lost 10% of my body weight so hopefully i'll get af soon and start getting regular.

Congrats on the weight loss, Did you find the EPO helped with any symptoms? I wanted to try it, but I'm already taking so many supplements..

    Smile Help with Maca

Hi! I have had PCOS for approx. 4-5 years. Thank God, I did not have trouble conceiving, but I do have other symptoms. Loss of libedo, unwanted hair growth, irregular periods, excess weight gain and difficulty losing weight. I am beginning to notice a small amount of the hair on my head to be falling out when I am in the shower too. In between the birth of my two children I also had an increase in migraines. I started taking Met 500mg in Jan., but have found no results. My dr. tried to increase the dosage to 1000mg., but I can't seem to tolerate it (intestinally). Although I have always been slightly overweight & have had a small amount of unwanted hair, since the PCOS began it has become uncontrollable. My weight was always in my hips, but now I have this lower abdominal belly that I can not lose. I was in Whole Foods today and spoke with a woman that recommended Royal Maca Root. (I think Royal is the brand). Can anyone tell me some more info about this? Does it work? IS it harmful? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

And - Be careful with Met, it depletes the body of vitamin B (that may be what's causing the hair loss).. With Maca I haven't had any negative side effects.. so far it's fixed my bleeding issues.

Thank you so much!! That is so great to hear. So in your experience, it has helped with insulin resistance (weight loss), unwanted hair, and irregular periods? Also, I have small fibroids. Have you heard any link between PCOS and fibroids? Can Maca help them too (maybe shrink, or at least not grow)??

There are mixed reviews regarding maca and fibroids..
You can read through the links:
    http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=ut...ibroids%20maca

So far it's only helped with bleeding and weight loss... What's your diet like? Are you taking anything else besides met? Spearmint Tea and Saw Palmetto can help with excess hair, NAC can help with EH and insulin resistance, so can following a high protien/veggie diet.

I've seen Maca in powdered form for $18 for a pound of it, and a jar of Royal Maca for $33 for something like an ounce. Anyone know if Maca's as good as Royal Maca, or is the price difference just a scam?
