My DH and I have been TTC for 5 years and we are just starting the foster to adopt route here in ohio:-) We are super excited but nervous at the same time.
    funding for IVF fell through
trying to save for it on our own
trying to lose some weight and become healthy in the meantime.....

We have done 7 IUI all BFN:-(
Will we ever have our turn?

At least in Texas, it would definitely NOT count against a person. They just want to make sure that the issues have been resolved and there is a plan in place to prevent contact with the abuser, if applicable. Caseworkers want to know the good and bad. There is no perfect family and if everything appears that way, that's a red flag.

Friends in TX had trouble ttc for a few years and once they adopted got pg with their 2nd biol. My parents tried for years and once they put their names for adoption, had me. I've thought about it since I was little, as my parents divorced and I had friends who were either adopted or came from broken homes. I guess that's why I have such a passion for children of broken backgrounds. I'll parent as many children as God will let me!

Ok girls....we are taking the plunge!! I didn't think DH would be so open to it this time after many strained conversations. But we are starting the classes Sept 26!! I think he has realized, or God has spoken to him, that it's going to be a really tough road. We will start trying again for our own in January but my mind and body needs a break. Seriously. We will be moving after he graduates but by the end of the year so we agreed not to take any kids until after New Years. I am just so freaking excited I can't stand it. Since I work for CPS there are a few hoops but I know that when that precious child is put in my arms, it will all be worth it. Anyone else decided??

I think I'm going to mention it again to DH and see how he is feeling about it lately. When we had gone to the first meeting about it, several months ago, and we both felt emotionally we weren't ready...but I'm hoping he is feeling more ready...but of course I wouldn't push it on him. It worries me that I wouldn't be able to take off of work very often for court visits and parent visits. I guess we would learn in the class about how often those types of visits are.

I'm so anxious to start! I'm so ready to love on some kiddos for as long as God has for them to be with us...hopefully God has a permenant placement for us!!!

Ladies keep us updated! This thread makes me so excited!

DH and I went to our first Adoption orientation class last week to adopt through the state of FL.

In that meeting, they mentioned that some of the best books are Three Little Words, and Parenting or Adopting? the Hurt Child.

I just bought twenty things adopted kids wish their parents knew. I haven't started reading it yet though.
