Question Anyone take Celexa for depression/anxiety disorder??

My doc just perscribed this for me yesterday. I have been feeling really down, crying all the time, constantly thinking I am dying, just worried there is something wrong with me and just not enjyoing life lately. He said it could take a few weeks for me to start to notice a difference, so I was just wondering how well it worked for others??? TIA!

I was on Celexa for several months and I felt no change in my depression & anxiety. My doctor switched my meds to Effexor which worked for me. Sometimes it takes time to get the right dosage. It took me about a year to get it to a place where I could get out of bed.

    Wishing you the best!

I went from Lexipro to Celexa due to health insurance, so I never started straight on celexa. I will say that I started feelign better within 3 days. When I went on the pills. That could have been plobsebo (SP) effect do to my getting of my b* and facing my issues. I also use natural methods to control my depress. I take Maca, Vitamin b-12, and Magnesium. All of these have shown to help stabilize moods.Since this is the beginning of your journey, I would also have blood work done. A thyroid that is not working up to speed can cause depression issues (helped by kelp and L tyrosine) as can high testosterone levels (helped by taking saw palmento).I find the maca to be more of a mood enhancer then anything else.

I was on celexa for about 6 months it got where it stopped working and now i am on Effexor which is working a lot better for me. It does take a few weeks for you to start noticing a difference but if you don't you should talk with your doctor about changing. I hope that you feel better soon, Shaye

I was prescribed Celexa for anxiety but it didn't do anything for me at all. But, of course, every one is different. Definitely give yourself a while to see if there are any changes. If it doesn't work it could be that you just need a higher dose. Unfortunately it often takes a long time to find the right combo of medications and figure out the correct dosages for you. But I think visiting or talking with your doctor on a regular basis while taking these meds will make the process go a lot quicker

Celexa was great for me...for a while. I was started on 10mg. I felt amazing for a few weeks, and then the depression came back just as it was before. I was bumped up to 20mg, and the same thing happened, and continued to happen until I was on 60mg, which is has high of a dosage doctors will allow....and again, I was great for a few weeks, and then plummeted head first down the rabbit hole of depression. I've recently been weening myself off of Celexa, and onto Effexor. Tomorrow will be my first day of just Effexor, and no Celexa. I'll keep you updated with the Effexor. However, for the Celexa, it was great, but my body kept getting used to it, no matter what the dosage was.

Celexa has been a miracle for me. I went from crazy insane, with all the thoughts and feelings you have, to feeling normal. Zero panic attacks. My only suggestion is to make sure you don't lapse in taking it. I would get headaches and felt kinda dizzy when the levels would drop off.

I have been taking Celexa for over 10 years, maybe more. And it works well. However after taking it so long, I am beginning to wonder if it is not working as well for me any longer. Doctor is trying to wean me from Celexa on to Wellbutrin and so far, I am not happy with the changes.

My FNP gave me this about a year ago to try and help me out but after a week of taking it, I decided it wasn't for me. I would like to have a social life and actually leave the bathroom if you follow me.
