    Default Circulation problems after PE??

I was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in my lung) on 10/10/09. After spending a week in the hospital I got to go home being told I shouldn't be on ANY birth control. My GYN said its ok to be on Depo Provera because its a different kind of hormone. I started that last Monday and since then I've been getting wierd sensations in my hands, arms and shoulders. Mostly on my left side where I have the clot. My hand will go to sleep, tingling like your foot does when you cross your legs too long. And sometimes my hands and arms will go warm like I'm dipping them into warm water. And now my shoulders are really hurting. I don't get much chest pain, but should I be concerned about the other experiences? I'm not asking for a diagnosis just advice based on y'alls experiences with PEs. I've already missed a TON of work, and I'm afraid to make a fuss about this to my doctor if it's all in my head. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

After I had a blood clot, they also told me NO birth control, but my hematologist says NO WAY to Depo!! Yes, it is a different kind of hormone, but it will still raise your risk of future clots. I'm on/off blood thinners at this point, but whenever I have to take something as simple as Provera to induce a period, the docs make me go back on the blood thinners while I am on the hormone. In my experience, as long as you are on blood thinners, you can be on birth control...it will raise your risk of a clot somewhat, but not as bad as if you weren't on blood thinners.

Anyway, I remember the tingly feelings in my limbs, etc when I first started on blood thinners. It might be your body getting used to the medications. How thin is your blood? Are you on Coumadin? Are you getting a PTT weekly??
