Thread: Natural Progesterone Cream ?'s

  1. #1

    Default Natural Progesterone Cream ?'s

I was just diagnosed with PCOS in September. I was on BCP for 5+ years, went off in January of this year. I had a norm AF for 6 months, but have not had one since. My doctor started me on Met about 3 weeks ago, and I feel much better on it (acne is better). I am TTC, and I am interested in the use of NPC to regulate my cycles and help me O. I am confused how to start it since I don't have a cycle right now. Should I take it for any random 14 day cycle, and try to jump start my own cycle? I know once I have a cycle, I need to take it during the luteal phase. Also, I know you need to stop it right before AF to start your next cycle, but you don't want to stop it if you have a BFP, so how do you know whether to stay on NPC or to stop and start your next cycle? Just a little confused. I would appreciate any advice!!

Can't afford the next step so I am going all natural.

You could start the progesterone right now to start a new cycle.. I use progesterone cream for about 10 days or longer if I can (usually until I start spotting), take a pregnancy test JUST to be sure and if its negative then stop the cream.
For TTC purposes... take the progesterone cream after confirmed ovulation and then continue taking it until you get af.. if you dont get AF when you expect to, take a pregnancy test.. if negative then stop the cream, if positive make sure you stay on it and get to your doc asap and let them know you were using the cream.. they may prescribe you a suppository which might give you more progesterone then just the cream.

I hope this helps! You can check my chart if you like to see how I have used the progesterone cream in teh past... Its marked "p" on my chart.
    Current Regimen (since October 2009):
    Vitamin D:7000ius
    inositol: 7650mgs
    Choline: 1500mgs
    biotin: 5000 mcgs
    iron: a/b 60
    silica
    female toner tea
    spearmint tea
    B complex
    Liver supplement

currently dealing with gluten intolerance and excessive hair loss along with my PCOS.

Not TTC anymore... but still tracking cycle length. SCRATCH THAT. totally TTC again. WOOT!

I am the same way I went off the pill in March and af STILL hasnt arrived. I have been taking Femaprin(vitex) for almost 3 months hoping it will do the trick but i am thinking about the NPC to just get things started. I am kinda at a loss at what to do too.

I have been doing some studying up on this since I've posted. I guess it can take a few months to get things going. Use it for 14 days, and stay off 14 days. Keep this cycle (to mimic a natural 28 day cycle) until AF starts coming, then go more by O. If/when you get more regular cycles, start using it day of O until AF comes or if after 14 days a BFN. If BFP, stay on it through at least the first trimester as a sudden decrease in progesterone can signal to the body to AF and can cause mc. I guess make sure you get USP bio identical progesterone (not wild yam as your body can't convert this to progesterone). Well, here's to hoping huh girls?
