    Default Wellbutrin??

I just got a prescription for wellbutrin. I'm taking 150mg once a day. I haven't heard much about this med, and i was wondering if there were any other cysters that are on this, had experiences with it, ect. Does it have any effect with weight? and does it have any bad side effects?

Up until recently when I stopped all my depression meds to begin to prepare for TTC, I was on 150mg Wellbutrin SR. Out of all the depression meds I have taken (the others were Klonopin and Zoloft), Wellbutrin had the least side effects. I never felt bad when I was on it, and going off the drug, I never felt any withdrawl symptoms like I did when I stopped the Zoloft.

The SR version is great too because it does not cause the "sexual" side effects that many anti-depressants or panic meds can cause.

Good Luck cyster! Let us know how it works for you

I just wanted to add that when I took Wellbutrin awhile back I lost 5 lbs. on it. That doesn't sound like much, but I only weighed 110 lbs. at the time. I eventually switched to Paxil and then Prozac, though as the Wellbutrin wasn't quite strong enough for me. (And then proceeded to gain over 25 lbs. while on the Prozac, blah!) I hope it works well for you!

I take 300 mg of Welbutrin SR daily. According to my doc, it is the only anti-depressant shown to not cause weight gain. I recently heard (can't remember at the moment) that it is also SUPPOSE to help with carb cravings (possible weight loss?) .....I personally never experienced that. A friend of mine recently found an article (again, I couldn't tell you from where) on Syndrome X and IR stating that many doctors prescribe Welbutrin as well as Glucophage. It is recommended not to take your second daily dose after 5PM....can cause insomnia.

Wellbutrin SR worked great for me, except it made me wired. I had to take it very early in the morning to sleep at night. But, I felt great during the day but not odd. It is the same medication, but a stronger version, that is given to help people stop smoking. And, it is know to have some the least amount of side effects. So, all in all a good choice for many. Hope it gets you feeling much better soon. Hugs, Lendi

Funny, when I was on it (up until a few weeks ago), I took it at bedtime per the directions on my bottle and slept like a baby.

That is weird.....because I was having trouble staying asleep at night (prior to starting the medication) my doctor was fearful that it might disrupt my sleep pattern even more. Since your body chemistry does change when you are asleep...maybe taking the SR at bedtime works very well. got me on that one...... I suppose that may be the difference between taking 150 mg once or twice a day.

I was on 150mg.........but it had a different effect on me than it does most people...... it is supposed to give you a get up and go kinda thing but with me it made me drowsy and sleepy..........also,,,, i was on on 100mg but once it was upped to 150mg.. I had a rare side effect on it...... it made me mean...... I mean really angry and i literally felt like I could hurt people without thinking twice about it......... I had to come off of it........I am on zoloft and don't have any side effects whatsoever.......guess we are all just different.......i have been on several diff meds and zoloft is the only one I haven't had any bad side effects from..........good luck......alot of people do great on wellbutrin.

I was prescribed Wellbutrin just because my doctor was curious to see if it would help with weight loss. I was already taking paxil and was happy with its results but I did what she suggested. Boy was I wrong! I was constantly nauseas and felt horrible. As soon as I stopped taking it and went back on the Paxil I felt fine. It is weird how some medications cause drastically different side effects in different people.

Wellbutrin was the only med that worked for my depression. Didnt work for my nasty smoking habit though! I was taking 300mg and the only problem I had was that if I took it too late I was wired. I really hope it works for you.

I was taking Zoloft and it was making me very sleepy and causing increased appetite and loss of sex drive. The doc put me on Wellbutrin as well and it sort of helped even things out. The only real side effect I noticed from the Wellbutrin was night sweats.
