Quick question for Fee, do you need to get a referral for a dietician? I'd love to see yours. I'm working my butt off exercising and think I need a diet overhaul. lol Need to see where I'm going drastically wrong.

    Default GP's in Canberra??

    Hello

I've just moved to Canberra from Brisbane and I need to find a GP who understands PCOS. If anyone could help me out I would be grateful. I dread going to a new GP and being told 'Just lose some weight'.

    Thanks
    Sonia

    Default GP in Brisbane

    Hi,

I would also like your help, I need to find a really great GP in Brisbane. I have been trying to treat my pcos through naturopaths etc to no avail and am so depressed about my pcos symptoms....really need a good (caring) GP to help get myself sorted out.

    Thanks,

    Kellie.

Kellie, right in Bris? I have one in Holland Park... I've just started talking to her about it but she seems quite knowledgeable.

Kellie my fabbo doc is in George Street in the City, if you can get in there. Her name is Dr Joanne Marjason, and she's at the Top of the Mall Medical Centre.

Not only is Jo an excellent doc, but she's a LOVELY person as well, and she really cares about her patients. She's been a complete Godsend to me.

If you'd like more information, PM me anytime.

    Cheers
    Kath

Has anyone seen an Endo in Brissie Dr Peter Hill? He was the only Endo I could get into this year. Dr Winnifred Lee is not taking appointments until March.

    Hi ladies,
After seeing a herbalist/acupunturist in Sydney I got pregnant after only 2 weeks treatment, and I have PCOS and Endometriosis. It may also be because of my healthy lifestyle as well which helped. I probably would have got pregnant without help but because I am 35 I didn't want to take any chances so I found this wonderful lady.
Her website is www.lilyliu.com.au for anyone interested and my partner who keeps me so healthy is a "health and fitness consultant", probably the best around but I'm a bit biased. If you want his details feel free to email me at andigoddess@hotmail.com and I will give you his info.
    Good luck ladies !!!

I need to see an endo re pcos and poss h/thyroid. Sounds like the endo's at King Edie and other large hosp have very long waiting lists. Anyone know of good one that I might be able to see sooner?
Also, more for the men - I went to see Dr Adrian Zentner at the Well Mens Centre - he is the national guru on testosterone (mainly for men who are deficient) but he was very good with knowledge and diag the pcos for me.
He also visits the east coast reg.

    Default Gp

    Hi,

I'm thinking of booking in to see an envorinmental nutritional GP to treat my pcos after reading through this site. Can anyone who has seen one let me know what they thought of that approach to treating pcos? I'm thinking of going the natural route rather than the endocrinologist route etc as I have tried Metformin, androcur etc and they weren't the cureall they were said to be Rather, the opposite.

Pale Pink Aura, I sent you a longish post asking about your experience with Dr. Greg Emerson, but having just checked my account control centre it doesn't show that any emails have been sent via this website so site must have gobbled it up somewhere. Please send me a message at any time in the future if you can let me know any information about treatment with Dr. Emerson.

    Thanks cysters (in advance).

    Kate James.

I will give you all a brief thing on what this doctor is like.

Over xmas last year he was out doing his xmas shopping and had a call from the hospital that one of his patients had just gone into labour. The patient was a first time mum. He left his shopping trolley and went straight to the hospital and stayed with her right up until he delivered the ladies baby. He then dropped in on her a couple of times that night also to make sure she was right.

From stories I have heard this doctor is not in it for the money he is all about his patients.

I was in with him for 1hr and 20 mins how many specialist do you know that do that? None that I have come across anyways. He did more for me in that time than any doctor has done for me in nearly 5 years. He did an transvaginal ultrasound just to make sure my diagnosis from 5 years ago was correct. He also took a sample from my uterus wall to make sure that I did not have any abnormal cells as he said to me some women with PCOS who don't have a regular AF can get cancer or have abnormal cells that may stop them from getting pregnant and that it wasn't good for me to only have a period once or twice a year or every other year either. The good thing about him is that he has all this equipment in his office you don't need to get a form filled out and troddle off to somewhere else. He also has written out a pathology form for a full blood workup including an oral glucose test which so far no one has done for me.

I could go on all day about how good he is but I won't. But I will tell you for my appointment, the scan, and the pathology sample he took it cost me $150 and I am astounded.

    His details are:

    Dr Alwyn Dunn
    Suite 1
    115 Nerang St
    Southport Qld 4215
    Ph: (07) 5503 0854
Hi everyone - just wanted to thank AusGal for this post - I've been seeing Dr Dunn since August and everything above is true. He's great.

I don't check this thread often enough. That gyno sounds AWESOME! Glad you like him too Katie. It's great when you find someone who gives you TIME and UNDERSTANDING - that is half the battle.
Good Luck with the clomid Katie!!! Hope you get a BFP soon!

Thank you Amy - the 100mg didn't do the trick, but he's put me up to 150mg next cycle. Your bubba's are gorgeous!
