For those with pelvic pain or non stop bleeds

I just joined tonight. This is my first post. I have been diagnosed for over 2 years now. But have had symptoms for many years. I didn't have my first period until I was 16 and a half. And from then on it was heavy prolonged bleeding. I have been on bc pills for almost a year now and they have given me some of my life back. I still bleed heavily but with the pills and ibuprofen I can manage.I get terrible lowerback pain right before and during my period.
Uggh sometimes I wish I knew what normal flow was. If there is even such a thing.

i have really bad cramps also near enough everyday.. it doesnt last long but man it hurts!.. my doctor said excersie is the main key!..hmmm exersice?..with pain like that..

I am a newbie, Just diagnosed last week, and am full of questions like so many others I have been reading about. It seems everyone is different but my biggest concern is the pain. I hurt alot, it seems all the time. The doctor has recommended Depro Provera and I am suppose to get a shot this week. I am not sure this is a good idea as I do not see anyone else discussing the interaction with PCOS and Depro Provera. I am 38 with five children (3 of them step children) so Infertility is not an issue with me but the pain oh the pain, it is intense. Is there anyone who knows if Depro Provera helps or worsens the pain?

I suffered severe backache in the mornings after the birth of my 2nd child and had to get help getting out of bed in the mornings. I suffered it for years before I changed OB/GYN and one internal exam showed that I had a retroverted uterus - it tills forward unstead of silghtly backwards. Sex was uncomfortable and the backaches were always put down to the PSOC. I has a "uterinal retroversion" (spelling?) this summer and have not looked back! It did nothing to help the PCOS but the backaches are gone.

I don't know if your doc has already looked at this. I hope it helps. Good luck.

ok. I have just had my first period since starting the glucophage, can you say 'PAIN"? I have endometriosis. I'm supposed to be on low orthotrycyclin. But have no guts to do it while getting adjusted to the glucophage so I decided to ride this first period thorugh. needless to say next month I will be trying it. i forgot periods could be this hard. I have always had periods every month but they have not been this ugly in a long time. i'm wondering if the glucophage can make this happen? anyone know?

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS myself. My DR started me on Metformin...i had my period for a month! it didnt hurt tho. if it werent for the blood i wouldnt even know it was there. i finally got fed up and stopped taking it. it went away a week later. i dropped weight like crazy that month. so i decided to start taking it again cuz im not feeling the birth control thing again, its always made me feel sick.

I had the same bleeding problems as you. I don't know if you had any warning when af was coming , I didn't. The last straw came for me when I was at work and it came on very suddenly. I work in a predominately male industry and I was wearing tan pants, need I say more? I had a d&c and have been on yasmin ever since. I am not ttc gave up cuz af was too much to handle. I went through 20+ gynos in 6 years before I found one that listened so keep trying and good luck.

NO PROVERA! I never had any of the symptoms until after I got that shot of the devil. I gained 30 pounds in 2 months and period went nuts. That was almost 11 years ago and it was only 1 shot and I am still all messed up. Try yasmin it has been the only bcp that has worked for me and I think I've tried them all! PCOS specialists advise against progesterone (provera) and I agree. Every time they gave me provera to stop af I gained more weight and I felt like crap but when I told my Dr they thought I was crazy. I havent had any in 3 years and I'm feeling alot better now. Just thought you should know.

I have spotting a lot! usually I have two weeks or so of spotting that is usually just enough to be annoying. Sometimes it goes away for a week then comes back for two weeks. It is really weird! I was just diagnosed with PCOS. I have been on 500 mg metformin once a day. anyone else have spotting like that?

I have been also having the annoying spoting ever since I started taking met. 500mg once a day. I thought maybe it was because I havent had my period for 2 months again but maybe its the met. ? I have a appt with my dr on the 27th, he is going to be overwhelmed with questions from me I believe.

I thought he was going to pass out when I started naming off drugs that might help my pcos ect lol. Hes not used to me knowing more than him. I told him about his site so maybe he will catch up : )

this is my first post so I am not sure if I am doing this right but anyway.....

I was diagnosed two years ago. I have to say I actually haven't continued with treatment. I am not on any medication including birth control. I have have been trying to eat healthier and to excercise. I began loosing weight about 2 months ago. About six weeks ago I moved to france where my diet to some degree and my excerise to a large degree changed. I am walking everywhere so I get much more excercise. Well, I have been bleeding since I got here, which makes 6 weeks. some days aren't very heavy at all but it seems to getting heavier rather than lighter. I usually only have 2 periods a year. But, almost every time I have begun to eat healthier and begun to loose weight my period appears. Well, I guess my question is, Is this typical? Should I be concerned with the long period I am experiencing? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

I had pelvic pain in 2004 for about 2 months. Also low grade fevers, and nauseua. Went to gp, who prescribed pain pills and checked for everything but PCOS, cause it's supposed to be "not that big a deal." Plus, I had a doctor who had read somewhere all women with PCOS have unusual hair growth, and since I didn't, I couldn't have it. Finally got an us, and was told I had a dermoid cyst and had to have surgery the next day before my ovary burst. Turned out that it was just a bunch of cysts on my ovary (I only have the one b/c of a congenital defect). They scraped the cysts out and put a special 'gauze' to help prevent the cysts, and switched my bcp. Still have problems, but not pain like it was, and feel much better overall then I did before the surgery. Moral of the story is this- sometimes PCOS really is *all* that's wrong with you- but if they (read- doctors, nurses, etc.) had a big huge ball in their abdomen like my cyst-filled swollen ovary pressing on everything else, they'd probably be in pain and sick too! Surgery can be a pain (particularly if, like me, they can't do it laproscopically), but if you get a good surgeon, he should be able to save the ovary. Beware of anybody who wants to just rip it out!

Don't be afraid to ask about options. You shouldn't have to live in a fetal position your whole life.

I was just diagnosed and have had pelvic pain for the past year its not extremly painfull just this discomfort or pressure like feeling, my Dr has run out of things to do and he siad the only thing now is exploratory surgery, dont know if I should get it cuz my pain is not bad, can this be a sign of endo? or does my pain have to be really bad

I am new here, but I wanted to address the prolonged bleeding issue. I recently began having problems with that. Because I was/still am breatfeeding, my gynie did not want to run hormone tests b/c they would not be accurate. She did an endometrial biopsy to rule out hyperplasia and endometrial cancer. That was not the problem. She suspected the cause of my bleeding was hormonal, but she could not explain why I was bleeding so heavily and why it was continuing for weeks on end. On a whim, she ran tests for different bleeding disorders. It turns out I have Von Willebrand's Disease (vWD).

vWD is related to hemophelia. You can have a extremely mild case or very severe case. It is the most common bleeding disorder. It is often misdiagnosed or missed altogether. Often you will bleed with no pain. Many women get unnecessary hysterectomies due to this disease not being diagnosed. Check out http://allaboutbleeding.com for more information. If you suspect you have this, your doctor can order a bleeding time test or a platelet function analysis. The second test is probably more reliable.

I had never even heard of this disease. I have a very mild case. I don't fit the typical profile, but nevertheless it has caused my periods to be crazy heavy recently.

Anyway, it is something worth checking into.

I Am Looking For Someone To Help Me I Have Pcos And Havent Been Able To See A Gyn Yet Due To Insurance Co Issues. But I Would Like To Know All My Options I Was Informed They Would Put Me On Birth Control Wich I Havent Ever Been Able To Take. I have had PCOS for 12 years officially diagnosed 1998 but I have terible pelvic pain expecually when it is that time of the month but this is my problem I did not have a period for 3 months and every patient that has PCOS there are two things going through your head number 1 is oh just maybe this time I could be pregnant (TERIBLE EMOTION TRIP IN YOUR HEAD) or number 2 oh it's my PCOS well I did this I started bleeding the 2nd of April and to this day May 25 I have not stopped anyone had this befor if yes PLEASE HHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! I hate bleeding for such long periods of time and it gets so old!! This is so nice though to know that I have women out there that have the same problems I do Thanks you ladies are great and we are all daughters of god remember that in your time of pain and dispair!!
