I've read that d-pinitol makes the body produce dci. It makes sense that they would sell it as DCI though.

I am really ticked off at this point at the drug companies that have tried so hard to keep this whole thing under wraps so they will make a "profit" from it. This "drug", (which isn't even really a "drug', it's a substance the body is supposed to make on its own) will be used to treat Type II and PCOS. The part that ticks me off is that what they've known of it for years! It has been kept from us so they can federalize it and make huge profits. If there is a "cure" for Type II and PCOS and it's a natural substance that has no reported side effects, shouldn't it be made available to the public?

Let me tell you alittle about my own experience first of all. I am 30 years old tomorrow and I have always had one period per year or less. I have gone as long as 3 years without ever having a period. The most periods I had on my own before the study was 2 in one year. (Not counting those I induced with provera). I have high testosterone so I have symptoms associated with that as well. I have been ttc for 4 1/2 years and took a break last year to participate in the study. (I really needed a break from ttc!) As for ttc, I am clomid resistant- no amount of clomid will make me O, and my doctors speculate that I have never had an ovulatory cycle in my life. My hormones are extremely wacky as well. I moved on to injectable meds and hyperstimluated on the lowest doses possible. Then I graduated onto wearing a PICC line in my arm that pumped gnRH into my system every 90 minutes. I wore this thing for 45 days and never ovulated even thogh they tripled my dosage.

Upon taking the DCI I was convinced I was on placebo for the first 2 months because I felt nothing. Then during the 3rd month, AF came. I fgured it was my annual AF. But exactly 30 days later AF was back! Then 30 days later AF was back again and so it continued for 7 months ina row. I also noticed hormonal symptoms. My breasts even changed! and I could feel the hormonal cycles taking place every month (which I had never had before). My skin also began to change and became more supple and clear. I had taken a GTT before starting the study and had fainted at the 2 hour mark because of hypoglycemia.(Along with severe sweating, nausea and shakes) I lhad learned at that point from my results that I am hypoglycemic. During the course of the study I had 3 more GTT's and felt fantastic the entire time. I was not hypoglycelic during the study. At the end of the study, my sonogram showed that I had far less cysts than I had before.

DCI is a substance that the body normally makes. Upon testing normal people and Type II diabetics they found that normal people have much more DCI than we do. (Both PCOS or TypeII) We excrete too much of it and we probably don't make enough of it. It is now believed that PCOS and Type II are caused by a deficiency of DCI, and they have found that supplementing with it corrects the problem.

I wanted to add that I had no side effects the entire time and was able to take my pills on an empty stomach or with food, didn't matter. I'm off it now and not doing so well. AF hasn't showed up since I went off the meds and even though I'm low carbing I am still not feeling very good. I think my body is trying to adjust back to not having the meds. What I wouldn't give to be back on it again! Hopefully it will be approved and available by 2004, but it's hard to say.

I wish, oh how I wish, that the pharamacy companies cared more for people's well being that about making money but that is simply not the case. DCI sould be readily available for those of us that need it. I am outraged when I think of the fact that these facts have been known all this time and we have been here suffering all along. I wish there was something more I could do, but in the meantime, I wait. Like everyone else.
I realize this is an old thread, but Kittycat's Story about DCI was so good. I wanted to bump it up.

Kittycat, I noticed that you did not notice any effects on DCI until after 2 months. That is huge for me, because most information says DCI takes effect within 6-8 weeks. I think that may not be true for all of us. It may take longer to work for some of us, like Met does take longer for some.

It's information like this that makes me wonder if there will ever be a cure for cancer. If there was a cure, drug companies would lose millions because no one would need prescriptions or chemo. If there was a cure for cancer, how much would it cost? Thousands?? Hundreds of thousands?? This world is purely run on greed.

    Default Dci

    Hello,
I am 38 years old and have secondary infertility. I was put on birth control when I was 18 due to irregular periods and almost passing out. I had my son at age 35 without any problems getting pregnant or during the pregnancy and now we have been trying to number 2 for almost 3 years. I have tried accupuncture, herbal suppliments, Clomid (5 months), Injectibles (1 Month) and we just started DCI about 2 ago. I was unable to ovulate without Clomid or the injectibles however I ovulated this month just being on DCI and Metformin. I am starting to see the hair on my legs growing slower as well and my hair looks better than it has for a long time! My husband and I are praying for number 2 to come along soon but at least I know this will help decrease my chance of diabetes and heart disease! Just wanted to share my story in hopes that it helps someone out there!

    Speaking of research
Tracis at Chiralbalance will be starting to gather information about us cysters and the effects of DCI. I also believe that he will be providing these to Dr. Nestler. Please help him out with this information. The more information we can provide the better results we will see! Send an email to Travis through the Chiralbalance website and ask him what info he needs and then if you can please provide it to him.!!!

    Thanks!

You know, reading the experience of KittyCat I've got to laugh. I've had the same results as she did, but they started within a MONTH of me taking Inositol and Choline. If nothing else, it proves that there's no reason I need to order a much more expensive and less widely available supplement. Honestly, if anyone is on a budget and is really interested in the DCI, I'd suggest investing about $20-$30 at your local vitamin or health food store (less if you get the combo pill - but the $20-30 will give you a 2+ month supply) and try the Inositol and Choline combination before dropping a bunch of money on the DCI.

As far as the comment about DCI being 'widely' available, that's not true. If it was 'widely available', I'd be able to go to my local vitamin shop or health food store and buy it. It wouldn't be solely produced by two or three companies.

Do many people order DCI from this site? Ordering things like this on the internet makes me a little nervous. I would love to hear from those of you ordering it from them.

I ordered mine from them as well. They were based in TX and I live in LA so I got mine in 2 days. No problems at all! I *think* you can get it cheaper elsewhere but I wasn't sure about the other companies. Chiral balance had been used by many here and was US based so I went ahead and paid more. Check out the other DCI threads and there are lots of posters who have spoken with the people at chiral balance and they seem very knowledgeable and helpful.

pcosinfo.wordpress buy their DCI from the same manufacturer as Chiral Balance do, so it's the exact same stuff, only much cheaper. When I was first looking around at DCI they were less than half the price of the other people selling it. I think she's forced the price of the others down to stay in the market, but she's still the cheapest one I could find. And I like that she's a cyster as well, not just some bloke trying to make a $.

Anne is very helpful answering all sorts of questions.

It costs just $25 USD for 18 grams and postage is really cheap too. Only a couple of dollars.

RoseGeranium- I did recieve my DCI from Anne at pcosinfo.wordpress! I live in the US, and Im not sure how long it took, maybe 10 days or something. She is very nice and helpful!

Hi, I was wondering, how many mg of Inositol and Choline are you taking? I am very anxious to try it, if you say it works as well as DCI.
