    Default Constantly Bloated

    Hello All!
I have no idea what to do for this problem. No matter what I try, I always feel bloated (and gassy TMI sorry.) The area right below my waistline is terribly poochy. I cant get rid of it!!
I am taking metformin and mircette, and trying to follow a lower carb diet, but this pooch just wont go away. Sometimes after meals, even a small one, I feel so bloated that it almost hurts to breathe. I have asthma, but I dont think the 2 are related. I am not a real heavy cyster (5'2 160 lbs) but right now I feel like I weigh a ton just because of the bloating. Any suggestions? Should I talk to a dr?

    Thanks in advance

    Post yep...up to 7"

Yep, I have bloated up 7" in the waist/abdomen ONLY since my PCOS symptoms hit full force. It's even worse during AF. I don't know what to do about it. I have been thinking of going on spiro for hairloss anyway, perhaps a diuretic will de-bloat me.

    Girls,

I suffered with horrendous bloating in my tummy and legs for so many years and some things have helped tremendously. Here are some tips I can personally recommend:-

Drink plenty of fluids, especially water this really helps.

Spironolactone has been an absolute God send for me and helped reduce my puffiness within a few weeks (been on it for over 3 years now.)

But biggest and best of all for me has been weight loss, through low carbing. I have found this to be the most amazing life changing thing for me. I now don't even bloat during AF! I used to go up a whole dress size, sometimes two before I began low carbing! These days no-one could even guess I have my period. I always found around AF was the worst and most painful time for me but since low-carbing I have even managed to almost completely eliminate my severe period pain, which used to be so bad that I would take to my bed with a hot water bottle for up to three days at a time. I was even considering a Hysterectomy (age 33 now and no kids) because I was so desperate about the pain.

I know you may be following a low carb diet but let me explain how I low-carb (which admitteldy is very restrictive.) I try to eat approx 20g carbs per day but no more than 50g per day. I don't touch processed foods/junk foods, fizzy drinks, caffeine and try to stick to foods as 'close to nature' as possible. I avoid all refined flours, sugars etc. I don't eat potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and limit my intake of fruit and veg to those low on the Glycaemic Index (GI) such as melon, strawberries and raspberries and mostly 'green' vegetables, salad, cabbage, courgette, brocolli, cauliflower, green beans, etc and avoid carrots, sweetcorn, peas etc.

I hope this helps. I can honestly say I have never felt better in my life and I have lost about 30 pounds since February. Oh yes and exercise has helped me too but I had to lose a little weight and be on the diet for a couple of months before I got the energy required to exercise. This worked for me and maybe it could work for you!

    Hi Karen!

I think that some kind of low-carbing really might help. I've always been bloated during PMS times but over the course of the last 2-3 years all my PCOS symptoms got really worse and so did the bloating.

I started low-carbing 4 weeks ago and it really is better! I still feel bloated every now and then but not ALL the time!

On Saturday night I went out with my BF and I decided to "interrupt" the diet and eat a pizza. Believe me, the punishment for pigging out was really tough - I was terribly bloated all day yesterday and my stomach was aching throughout the day.

    Get well soon

    Steph

I'm on spiro. I have gone down a shoe size since being on it. My feet were constantly swollen before the spiro. The first 2 week on it I lost about 12 lbs. just in water weight. As long as you aren't ttc, it's a great med. to be on.

Here are some things that make me bloated so I don't eat them anymore.

Tap water... I have a countertop purifyier at home or i buy gallons of distilled water.

Cottonseed Oil. terrible on my system
    Peanut Oil Same thing

Removing these things helps a lot.. I still get bloated near my period or if I eat a lot of fats in general.

Check out this website -- it describes a diet that people use for different GI problems (especially IBS, candida). Maybe it can help with your bloating.
