    Default best specialist in Sydney?

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know who the best qualified pcos gyn/obs person in Sydney is ..... it seems to me we don't seem to be as up on the latest stuff as our US counterparts.

Also when you know you have PCO how long do you have to be TTC before they'll put you on clomid or something? and is it called Clomid over here?

    Tanx guys

    Hi Dayna,

I don't know about doctors in Syndey. Have you had a look at the sticky?

Yes, we call it clomid here. I believe you need to be unsuccessful at ttc for 12 months to be considered infertile and therefore receive treatment for it.
    Cheers, Tas

Hi, I went to see Dr. Warren Kidson (at Prince of Wales in Randwick) and he is excellent. I believe he is a leading expert in PCOS not only in Australia but worldwide. He is very friendly. I am from the US originally and was diagnosed there. He ran the same tests (bloodwork, ultrasound, etc) and once the results were back he has put me on metformin. You do need a referral from a GP though, and it takes a while (3 months) to get an appointment. But it's worth the wait!

You are an angel, I definately have heard of him and was considering trying to get an appointment. My current Endo. has just prescribed Metformin but only because I asked about it and she just said "OK, I'll write you a script". I would just like an experts second opinion.

Thanks so much for your reply!!

I would do as much research as possible and the sticky is a good place to start. If i want a referal i find out who is the best and then just ask my GP for a referral (shes always been happy to do this). Ive heard of Dr Kidson a lot and my dietician recommended him as the leading expert on PCOS in Sydney.

Great to hear Dr Kidson is good as i have been referred to him today. His normal wait is til April but they are seeing if they can fit me in before as i have had a vascular incident and my doc thinks its because of the IR/PCOS.

    thanks
