Default Please Help! - 'Quality' supplements??

I keep reading that I should be taking quality supplements & am looking for B-12, B-Complex, Folic Acid & Prenatals in particular.

My problem - I have no idea how to know if it is 'quality' & don't want to just go by price.

Can anyone help me??? Reccomend a brand or show me how to find out if it is 'quality'

    TIA

Default You get what you pay for...

    Hello,

It has been my experience that you get what you pay for with supplements.

The problem is that a lot of supplements are not "standardized." Which means that the dosage differs from pill to pill. So you are not always guaranteed what you are getting.

If you can find what you are looking for and they are standardized then those are the ones to pick up.

    Hope that helps some,

We get ours from Kirkman laboratories.

    kirkmanlabs.com

There supplements are FRESH, if you know what I mean. Most are also gluten free, casein free, yeast free, dye free, and so on.
I get sick from most drugstore vitamins, including prenatals: headaches, nausea, ringing ears.

And just fyi, a great majority of parents of autistic children (who are encouraged to megadose on certain vitamin/minerals) use Kirkman's due to their purity. Their customer service is excellent and I usually receive our vits within a week.

An example, they offer several varities of B12, you can view each, how it's made, why it's better than one form or another, how much to take....

    I hope this helps...

    Thank you both!

Karen - will it say 'standardized' on the label? Is that what you mean?

Suze - Thanx for the reccomendation, I am on my way to check out the site!

My best friend is a natural foods and supplements rep -- she says the best brands are Solaray and Twinlab. You can get them at any major health food store. They are the cleanest facilities and there potencies are the best.

Perpetua, having knowledge in the natural supplement industry, if you want, tell me what you would like to buy, what price you would like to spend, and I can suggest some high quality products for you and where to get them :-)
