I was just wondering how long everyone else has waited after stopping bcp's before starting on clomid. My OB/GYN suggested 3 or 4 months, but I am really excited to get back ttc again.

I was wondering this myself...although I am still on bcp until I see my RE on this Wed. I don't know when I will stop taking bcp and when or if she will start me on clomid or will she just put me on Met. for a few months. I will let you know after my appointment on Wed. what she does.

Hi,
I was only off BCP's for 1 month before starting my first round of Clomid. I have a tendancy of getting ovarian cysts if I am off for too long. My Dr wanted to see if I would ovulate normally, which I didn't, so he thought there was no point waiting around.
There are no associated risks that I am aware of.
Hope that helps.

So glad to find this thread. I went off BCP and onto Met. My dr told me to take Met for 2 months before starting Clomid. So far no AF. Will Clomid start AF, or will I need to take something to start it and then the Clomid to make me ovulate. Is Clomid a pill or an injection? Any info you have would be great.
As far as I know, you take Provera to bring on AF and Clomid to make you ovulate. I think Met is also meant to regulate AF so you may not need the Provera.
Clomid is definitely for making you O.

For us PCOS women who have whacky cycles and have had problems TTC many doctors are going straight from BCP's to clomid or whatever meds you are going to be using. That way you your body doesn't have a chance to get whacky again. I'm about to do my 2 months of pills. I'm praying the doc is right. I've read about other women getting pregnant this way. Just something else to think about and look into. Good luck ladies!!
