    Default have you tried reiki?

Has anyone here had reiki performed on them? I'm considering giving it a try.

What were your experiences with it?

I recently met a 45 year old woman who told me that she cured herself of pcos with reiki and she wanted to try it on me. I'm very suspicious although anything is possible...I might give it a try.

I haven't heard any cases of PCOS and reiki.....but maybe I should look!

I was skeptical of Vega testing as well, but once I tried it, I was so thankful I had. So, now I'm more willing to try things. I think I am going to try reiki. I figure that it can't hurt! At the very least, it'll be relaxing.

I am a Christian (baptist). I had to post on this. NOt to be offensive at all, I have a friend who actually is taking classes to learn it, and she was telling me how wonderful it is and since I should have health problems I should let her experiment on me. I didn't.. I looked it up first.. her talking about picturing 'blue healing light going in' and envisioning the 'pain red light' goign out of body parts, and her putting her hands over me, transferring some of her 'trained energy' sounded funny to me. So I decided to find out what Reiki was. Sure, its an 'alternative health' thing... some thing its nothing, just something silly, some believe it can be healing etc, but whatever it is, I found out from searching that it is using MYSTICAL POWER == and its Satanic, and just like some who practice witchcraft and don't know where their power really comes from-- it is, and it would be a very very bad thing to do. Please... don't do it. Satan is real, and so are the demons..former angels who fell from heaven, who try to trick humans into evil everyday....seriously...any healing you get...comes with a catch...

Reiki is based on the idea of a universal energy that flows through all living things. The idea is that the Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for the energy (or ki) to pass into the reciever. So, the practioner is able to pass this energy without draining their own.

As it is, I already do visualizations involving the chakras, lights/energies, and some other ideas.

I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by mystical power. Could you elaborate? Please don't think that I am disregarding your ideas surrounding Reiki. I am investigating, just as you have done.

I have tried Reiki and found that I had/have a very large block in my sacral chakra. I felt really tired after, but after awhile I started to "feel" better. I only went once, but I am interested in doing it again.

I will post some links that I can find at the bottom here, christian

views on Reiki. I love alternative health care.. it focuses on

whole health, and prevention, and is very important. Herbs,

    homeopathy,massage, nutrition,etc, all actually work

internally or externally to stimulate you externally or mentally or to heal you with

medications (or heal you changing your mood/psychologically/placebo

effect)....Reiki is not like other forms of 'health care'. They

wave their hands over you, some actually say they use channeling to

have spirits guide them through this. You visualize "energy" etc.

My premise for thinking this is its not something with a biological

basis-- it uses power or energy for healing -- if its not from God,

prayer, etc, where does the power come from? The only other source

of power in the Christian opinion is from Satan and his demons--even

if the person using this power does not know it is. I believe

demons are actually transferring in the passing of hands for

temporary 'healing'. Also, there are no spiritual secrets.

Anything using psychics, wicca, etc, are all occult/demonic to us.

God keeps no secret spiritual things from us...secret

    chants/words/hand movements/visualizations..that all is considered

satanic, anything with power, healing, etc for us to know is in the

Bible, all out in the open, no secret rituals.

This one has several links on the topic.. I went through and read them (Except the last one, which didn't work) There are tons and tons of articles out there...I just searched yahoo under Reiki christian satan but you could use lots of other search terms, of course. Personally, I think Therapeutic Touch is close to the same thing and also dangerous.

From those links my favorite were
    http://www.probe.org/docs/e-reiki.html and
    http://cana.userworld.com/cana_reiki1.html

Thanks for getting back to me with those links.

However, I don't believe in God or that all healing powers must come from God or prayer. I appreciate your input, but I think we just have fundamentally different views on this topic.

Mel - Was there a specific reason/problem that caused you to try Reiki? If so, did it help with that issue?

I went after a friend recommended it because of my sexual abuse that happened when I was a child and then again as a teen. I only went once because it was out of her house and I didn't feel comfortable there. I am going to be going again in September when I am back at work. There is a new place that just opened up here and I am looking forward to it.
It is very healing and relaxing

Most of the practitioners I've looked into also do outcalls. So, if you're ok with someone coming to your place, then that might be an option for you.

I tried to book an appointment with one woman, but she's not taking appointments until the start of September. But, she was super nice and talked to me on the phone for a bit about what's going on in my life. She also explained a breathing technique that would help me relax. I'm going to try to see her in September.

Where do you go to get Reiki done? Is it an actual Reiki specialist or what? What exactly do they do, that can help with PCOS? I'm open to try anything, especially if I don't have to go to the doctor..lol..
    It sounds interesting.....

My mother is a Reiki Master, and first and foremost I want to say that it IS NOT SATANIC!!! My mother is a very devout Christian and does many types of touch healing, including Reiki and Reflexology. She believes, and so do I, that all of the healing that she does comes from God. She is a volunteer for Hospice and works in a nursing home, and has never charged anyone to do Reiki on them. Granted, I personally don't know a whole lot about it, but to have someone say that something my mother loves to do for other people is satanic makes me angry.

Thanks for the link Bluedragonfly, I found it really helpful. I did some research, and found a person who practices (or however you phrase it) Reiki in the town over. I'm gonna give her a call just to talk to her, and see what she has to say.

    Thanks everyone.

I have an appointment for tomorrow morning. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

erika77 - The practitioner that I'm going to see is registered with the Canadian Reiki Association. You might want to look for an American equivalent. (basically the CRA is a commitment to ethical practice, and that sort of thing. www.reiki.ca )
