Default shrinking cysts

Hi everyone,
My doctor has sugested that I go on bcp as I have not had a peirod for over 1 year now. She also said that the bcp could help shrink the cysts, does anyone know what causes the cysts to shrink while on bcp. I would be grateful for any advice, I know I should have asked her this at the time but I never thought.

Take care Carrie x

Default Shrinking cysts

Hi Carrie,
An Ob /gyn told me the same thing, but I asked for a referral to see an endocrinologist. At my first appointment, I told her about what I was told about taking birth control to shrink cysts. She said that it wasn't true. I now take Metformin and Spironolactone. I now have regular periods, without birth control. (first time ever!) I haven't had a sonogram lately, to check the cysts, but I haven't had the pelvic pain that I had before.
I'm curious to know if the cysts can shrink with meds, too. Take care
Rita
