For years I have been sick. I've been going to doctor after doctor and none of them have tried to even figure out whats wrong with me. I have gained about 50 pounds. My hair has been falling out. I have found facial hair beginning to grow. I have had multiple ovarian cysts. I have excessive bleeding and terrible month long cramps. I have been depressed and exhausted. Every time a doctor tells me that "its all in my head" I find myself falling deeper into this depression. I know that my body dosnt feel right. I found this site and I have read posts and I relate to people who have been diagnosed with PCOS. I want to be tested but none of the doctors in my town are willing to test for it. If it sounds like PCOS or if you just want to help encourage me I would love to hear from you... I need the support. thank you.
Hi Faith , welcome. I'm so sorry you are having problems getting diagnosed. I can only suggest that you try to find a doc that will help you. If it is PCOS, learn everything you can . If you need to, print off the info on this site and other sites to give to the doctor and insist on tests to help in the diagnoses. This site has a ton of great info!!!!!
Let us know how it works out!!!

Most of the treatments available for PCOS have an over the counter partner.(as in medication)
I also suggest you do some reading and seach for answers here.
Many of us are more than willing to help you through it all.
My first suggestion for long bleeds would be to look up FIBROID TUMMORS.
Then look into high and lows for estrogen and progestin.
This will take time so be patient.
Also if you are insulin resistant, you can be having a reaction to the way your body process' the insulin. I have allergy like symptoms when I have too much sugar. If I bindge on something, I can have a sugar hang over the next day.
Prepare yourself to do some reading.
Then prepare to face denial.
You can succeed.

Have you seen a Reproductive Endocrinologist yet? They should be more than willing to do the hormonal blood tests, and glucose tests to find out if you have PCOS. They mainly deal with diabetes and other insulin issues, which PCOS has as well.

oh my gosh... this sounds exactly like a post i would've written a year ago.... I am SO SORRY and feel for you.. i really do.. I've been through that my entire life.... Bounced around from Dr. to Dr.... test to test... never finding out what was wrong with me.. and becoming so depressed i gained 80 lbs....
YOU MUST KEEP LOOKING... go to every Dr. you can.. i know it's hard because you feel like giving up.. but you sound a lot like me before i was dx with PCOS. don't give up.... there's a Dr. out there somewhere that will listen to you and do the proper tests so that you can begin to receive some help.... Listening to your symptoms it sounds like it possibly could be PCOS.... if you can relate to this site and the info on it there's a good chance that's what you have..... And it was VERY HARD for me to get diagnosed also.... But if you keep trying.. it's well worth it.
I hope you find help and can start living your life again...
Prayers your way

After believing I was going crazy for years I finally have a diagnosis! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Try a female doctor. They'll be more understanding, and it will also be easier to be assertive with them and very forthright about what you're experiencing. Tell them you KNOW something is not right, and women know that women have a woman's intuitition!
What I did is I did a huge amount of research on PCOS and convinced myself thoroughly that I had it. I wrote up my research and summarized abstracts from journal articles. I made a list of things that are associated with PCOS. Then I took a deep breath and gave it to my doctor!
She diagnosed me with PCOS right away, and now I can start walking toward relief.
Good luck!
