Unhappy Sick and Tired of feeling sick and Tired - venting!

I have been feeling so incredibly frustrated and depressed lately. I just need to vent. I went to the ER on Dec. 20th with chest pain. I still have yet to get a diagnosis for it and I am still having chest pain.... I am frustrated because it's taking too long to figure out what's wrong with me.
ER said Pleurisy or gallbladder. Two chest x-rays clear, 4 EKGs normal, blood work normal as far as hear attack related, 2 ECHO's normal. Did a 24 hour holter monitor, awaiting results......also going to do a chemical stress test in a few weeks.
In the meantime, I'm still feeling like crap!
It's enough to deal with PCOS symptoms......add one more thing and I fall apart.
I have had a few crying spells lately and lots of thoughts of harming myself and suicide.
I just feel so alone and I'm so sick of living like this.......I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!

I know how you feel, I get sick an awful lot. I'm prone to bronchitis/pneumonia in the winter. I usually get it a few times a year. I've had pleurisy, I know that it is no fun. It hurt to even breathe normally. I've had my gallbladder out too.

You aren't alone, I've been sick and tired of being sick and tired for a long time now. I do hope things get better for you soon. Feel free to send a PM if you'd like to vent some more! I don't mind and I know it does help, I do it often enough!

Hi thanks for the reply. I have been dealing with a severe headache for over a week, which I believe is from a sinus infection. I need antibiotics. I called the pharmacy to try to refill the antibiotics I had in December, and the doc won't approve it..she needs to see me... argghhh... I was trying to avoid missing work........and save a few bucks...

I'm in a better mood that last night. Maybe because I am feeling a little better..yes, that's it... I get so mad when I feel sick and so happy when I am feeling good.... is that normal? I still have a headache, but it's not too bad right now and my nose is getting all stuffy and my chest is hurting a little off and on..........yeah, and that's feelin good...sad isn't it?

I can understand why your doc won't approve the antibiotics without seeing you. I worked in a doctor's office for a while, a few years back. They need to make sure you are getting the right kind of medication for your illness. It's precautionary and definately needed, your doc could get in a lot of trouble if she did approve it without seeing you. They have to worry malpractice suits nowadays, no matter who or what the medication is for.

I know it is hard, but maybe you should try not getting mad when you get sick. Some illness cannot be prevented and should be expected. Getting mad and stressed isn't going to help you, it only hurts you, mentally and physically. If you find yourself getting mad, please vent! It can't hurt to share and you may end up in a better mood for doing so, especially if there is someone out there who has had similar experiences.

I'm glad you are in a better mood. I get the same way very often. Extremely miserable when feeling sick but in a great mood when I'm well. It's not all that uncommon. I do hope that you get well soon. Just remember that you aren't alone, all of us get sick at one time or another. Try to keep a positive attitude and focus on getting healthy again! You can't help others unless you help yourself first.

Hmmm chest pain....do you smoke? Possbily lung related? Is there anything else associated with this chest pain, besides the nagging headache you mentioned? Seems like all your tests have come back good. One thing I did want to mention (although I am not saying this is the case) when people are depressed and not feeling mentally well they can sometimes cause things in their body to hurt or focus more on certain areas that hurt...does that makes sense? My brother is Bi-polar and when he was diagnosed one of the symptoms he and his Dr. discussed was how depression and hypochodricasim(sp) can go hand and hand. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE IN YOUR SITUATION. Your suicidal thoughts have me concerned. I think you should maybe inquire about your depression and go from there. As long as tests are coming back A-OK it's not something life threatning (even tho I'm sure the pain sucks and it is very scary not knowing what is causing it) (((((HUGS)))))) VENT AWAY as often as necessary, it does help =)

Thumbs down

I do not smoke, never have. The chest pain is horrible. I get chest pain all throughout the day. When I did the 24 hour holter monitor I noted 45 incidents of chest pain and I didn't even write them all down because some of the time I was driving or doing something that I didn't have access to stop and write down what time it was. I thought I'd get the results from that back this week, but I haven't yet.

Other symptoms: dizziness which is followed immediately after chest pain. I also have dermatographia (skin-writing hives), sore throat, low-grade fever, sinus pain and pressure.

The depression and suicidal thoughts have started because of having little to no pain relief since December! It's been over months. I've had different pain meds and the only ones that have worked are Darvocet and Vicodin. The other meds were: Relafen, Toradol, Naprosyn......... Originally they thought I had costochondritis and I did breathing treatments, prescribed Allegra and Singulair. Then for chronic headaches, doc prescribed anti-depressant amitriptyline 25 mg. and 500mg/day of Metformin for PCOS. I'm still taking the Allegra for alleries, and amitriptyline for headaches (which is a joke..it's not working..and I am wondering if that is not causing the suicidal thoughts also)..and I'm still taking 500mg/day of Metformin. I just quit taking Singulair because it's $50 to refill it. It's too expensive and I am not noticing any positive results from taking it.

Last night I was at witts end with the sinus thing. I decided to be a walk-in at the dr. office in the morning. So I got there , first one there ,...I mean first..like before the nurses and staff. I felt like crap...horrible! I signed in as a walk-in and there was only one other person in the waiting room. The receptionist called me up to the front and said it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait. I asked if they could just approve the refill on the antibiotic for now and I'd come back for an appointment and she told me no. the doc would have to see me and it would be an hour or longer wait. I yelled "NO!, I CANNOT WAIT THAT LONG. I HAVE TO GO TO WORK. FORGET IT. I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!" stormed out of there and was so mad and frustrated... Ugh!
Now I feel so stupid for doing that. However, at the time, and in the pain I was in (I was having awful chest pain at the time too).........
Anyway, now I still have no antibiotic, and I made a fool out of myself.......

It's amazing how pain can make me act like that. I am feeling a little better tonight. I used Afrin nose spray and have been taking Asprin every 4 hours and it's helping me tolerate the sinus problems. I can't control the chest pain.. except for taking it easy.

Sorry this is so long.... I just needed to vent. I am SO grateful for this website.

Red face

I forgot to mention... In September I was in an accident. We were at our friend's house for a barbeque and their covered porch collapsed on me. This big beam of wood hit me straight across my back. It hurt so bad.. I thought for sure I had lots of nails in my back and it felt hot and felt like it was bleeding. My husband looked at my back and there was no bleeding...just a straight bruised thin line across my upper back. I also had some scrapes and bruises on my arms and legs. I didnt' go to the ER. I should have though.

And yes I told this to my doc.. and I know it happened in Sept... but still I thought it was worth mentioning..

Oh.... in October I had a sinus infection, bad cold...finally finally finally went to the doc first week of December and was diagnosd with Upper Respiratory Infection.... Then a couple weeks later in the ER with chest pain..........and been the same ever since...no better, no worse.
