I think stomach problems are probably the #1 side effect of met. The last time I took met (regular), I pretty much felt like I had morning sickness 24/7 for 8 weeks until I gave up. I also had awful diarrhea at times, although it was not very often. This time I am on the XR and so far I am handling it much better. Only small intermittent nausea so far (I am still at 500mg/day so we'll see how it goes as I increase the dosage), and no diarrhea!
One of my problems last time was my sugary/refined carb diet. Now I eat only whole grains, fruits, veggies and lean meats, olive oil, peanuts, etc. When I do eat something with sugar, I get pretty nauseated, so I think the types of food you eat definitely have something to do with how the Met makes you feel. Some people, of course, will react badly no matter what. Just be sure you take the Met with food, and my endo recommends taking it at night after dinner so the worst of the nausea would occur while you are asleep. Good luck!
