Well, just from my own experience, I started to feel better about a week after starting the Met, and then had recurring nausea/bathroom trips each time I upped the dose. I'm currently at 1500mg.

I have to take my Met with food or else I feel nauseas all day. And drinking water seems to help lessen the side effects, too.

Oh - but if I eat like four slices of pizza? I'll be in the bathroom all night. I guess it's the carbs, or the greasiness of the pizza.

Good luck!

I started at 500mg, waited two weeks and went to 1000mg, then a week later I felt I was ready for the 1500mg. I take one 500 mg pill with each meal.

I think that most people start out slow, like I did. Maybe you want to ask your doctor?

Good luck!

Default hasn't stopped yet

Hi. I've been on Met for a month and I still have diarrhea just about every day. My doc started me on 500 mg once a day for a week, then twice a day for a week, and then increased to 850 MG twice a day. The first day that I took the higher dosage I was literally in the bathroom half of the day.

I keep hoping it will subside, but it sure hasn't yet. Some days I've had to take Immodium to get through the day because I work too and I can't spend all day in the bathroom at the office.

Good luck.

1500 IS TOO HIGH OF A DOSE TO START.

Take 500 at bedtime for a week or too.
As soon as your feeling up to it then increase your dose to 1000.
Again in a week or too(sometimes longer) You can increase it again.

I personally have terrible anxiety when I go over 1000.
(Side effect of GlucXR)

I also have had 2 DR's tell me it is ok to stay at 500-1000.
As long as I'm taking it. I am IR and they want me to keep taking it for that.

Good luck,
Patty

I started taking mine on the evening of the 10th. Dr
said start out slow, 500 mg once a day, for two weeks
then up to 1000mg. So far its been ok. I take it just
before I go to bed so I can sleep through any side affects.
I've noticed the first two nights I was really tired and if
I woke up, I was nauseous. Haven't really had any
diarrhea problems, have had gas though. Its not
as bad as I thought it would be. Tonight makes night
5.

Is a persons weight an issue when met is involved? Maybe my RE put me on 1500mg to start because I am overweight, anyone know if this is why?

Default weight issue

I'm not sure if your weight would affect the dosage. I am also overweight and doc started me on Met gradually.
