Question side effects 7.5 yrs later?

I started Yasmin 7.5 years ago and while my periods have always been shorter and lighter on it I am experiencing some new side effects that kind of have me concerned. In the last 6 months my periods have been different. Three times I bled mid-cycle and for all six of the months when I was supposed to have a period I hardly bled at all. I was in a car accident in July, but have been fine and back to work since late August and still it's not back to normal - nothing else has changed. Has anyone else had anything like this with Yasmin? Also, why would it wait this long to stop working? If it has stopped working does anyone know of anything that can be used to just induce a period monthly so that I don't need to take BCPs so that I can discuss it with my doctor? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I know there's things like Norethisterone and Provera (not the Depo-Provera BC) that can be used to induce a period, but I don't know if it could be used on a regular basis. Might be worth mentioning it to your doc, see if he/she knows anything similar to these and safe to use long-term.

After taking BCPs for a long period of time, the uterine lining gets very thin. You may stop you period all together or spot all through the month because of this. I did this on Yaz after only a year. It's usually OK, but you should tell your gyn. Have you ever taken a break from BCPs? That might help your uterine lining build back up and stop the problem.

donniedodo, I will definitely be mentioning those types of pills to my dr.

JosieFB, I have taken a few one month breaks here and there and once about 4 years ago I was off of it for about 8 months when I didn't have insurance. I don't have a period at all without the bcp and I have to have a period otherwise I get really, really sick.

sue_trask, I'd never had a problem with this pill before about 6 months ago, it just came out of the blue like this. If you don't mind me asking, what is dzt??

Also, I just want to thank all of you for taking the time to answer this thread.
