I thought that I had come to terms with at least one of the hairy parts of my body... my arms but yesterday I went and had some blood taken and the woman that did it commented on how hairy my arms were. Does she think I haven't seen my own arms? I don't know why people feel the need to point out the obvious, especially when it isn't something flattering. I mean, I have never said to anyone, "Wow, you have a huge nose." or "You would be pretty if only _______." I feel like such an ape sometimes.
Do any of you have any advice on removing the hair from your arms? Please?

Hi Ellie. Boy, can I relate. Growing up I had so much hair that the boys at school would make fun of me. I hated it! Then when I was about 18, I commented to a friend of mine about how pretty and "hairless" her arms where. I found out she shaved them! So, I have been shaving mine ever since and I love it! I only have to do it like once a week or less.

I have thought about removing the hair from my arms, but the difference would be so obvious, it would be like I was walking around with a big Rudolph nose.
I do, however, bleach the hair on my arms. When it is lighter it is much less obvious and I don't feel AS self-concious.
BTW- that woman was down right rude! I may have felt the need to point out her big fat butt or some other physical flaw- uncalled for!
Good luck with whatever you try!
Hairy in Canada (but it helps keep me warm! )

People can be so thoughtless sometimes! But I am glad you raised the question.
I just told my hubby the other night that I was going to use hair removal cream on my arms. I seem to have quite dark hair growing in a pattern near the inside of my arm which then goes around at the bottom beside the front of my wrist and is quite thick. So, I decided I will try the hair removal cream because I don't want to get rid of it all as the rest looks natural.
I will give it a go over the weekend and see how it looks.
Southern Comfort .. when you shave yours, do you get rid of ALL the hair? And is it like a clean shave you do? (daft question maybe lol)
oohmercyme .. what type of bleach do you use for it? How often do you find yourself doing it?
I can understand how you feel about the hairy arms. Me too. In the past I received a few comments on them and one day I decided I'd had enough so I decided to shave them and been doing it ever since. I remove all the hair and it leaves you very smooth. It's not any different than shaving your legs. Normally I shave every couple days in the winter and every day in the summer. I have tried waxing them or using hair removal cream but for me I prefer to just shave. Good luck!
I just use the body hair bleach at the drug store. I do it about once every month in the summer and whenever I am feeling big fat and hairy in the winter (There are perks to long sleeves and turtlenecks )

Dreamy, why yes I get rid of all the hair. I hate it! The good thing is that it looks pretty natural. It does not grow back really sticky like leg hair either. I usually shave them about once a week.

Wow, thanks for all of the suggestions!!! You guys are great!
I *think* I may go ahead and shave my arms, the only is my hands and fingers are hairy, too, so I will have to shave them also. I know, yuck! I am already shaving practically every other part of my body. I HATE being so hairy!!! Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone.

I've been shaving my arms for about 7 years now. I started before any of this PCOS stuff started. It was just a matter of preference. I do it every couple days. (sometimes more often, depending if I'm wearing short sleeves or not) I find that now I can do it really quickly, so it isn't too much of a hassle, even if I'm in a bit of a rush.
I wax and shave and feel soooooo much better about myself!! I wax every month or two and shave in between. I love it.

Yup, i too have come across the rude people who come out with "oh arent you hairy"... one day i will reply "oh arent you bald, do you feel the cold often".. my fur keeps me warm, i rarely feel the cold, and when i do it has to very cold. I havenever shaved my arms as it would look silly, and my hair grows back so fast. I did bleach them once or twice and people still commented, so i dont bother anymore.

Well, I did it! I waxed my arms and -- oh my! -- do they look better! It was a huge difference. We went to a Christmas party last night and my friend's little girl ran up and was holding onto my hand, she rubbed her face on my arm and said, "mmmmmm, soft!" It was so cute! It was also the first compliment I got about my arms... ever!
Although, I think I will try shaving them when the hair starts to grow back in, since waxing is *painful*.

i have hair on both my upper arms and lower arms. the ones on the lower arm are long while the ones on the upper arms are short. if i remove the lower arm hairs it will look odd to see the short hair on the upper arms. any suggestions? i don't want to touch the ones on the upper arms. thanks!!!
