Default Signs dose is too high?

I was bumped up to 75 mcg about 7 weeks ago, and noticed in the last few weeks that I was really feeling much better for the first time in a long time.

However, the last few days, I've been feeling funny. Sort of like I drank too much caffiene (I don't drink ANYTHING with caffiene because I'm sensitive to it). I'm guessing this means the dose may be a bit too high???

The weather has been very hot here, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it as well.

I can go in and get another blood test, but I don't really have time for the next week or so. My endo did instruct me that if the dose was too high I should take it only 6 days a week and that would be just about right, but I want the blood test before I cut back the dose.

Any feedback? Is this what it feels like when the dose is too high??

Thanks,
Knit

When my cousins dose was too high, her thyroid swelled up HUGE! I had to take her to the hospital because there was a HUGE lump and she was SO tired. I obviously know nothing else about it though, sorry. GL hope you get some answers

I know my dose is too high by two very strong and distinct symptoms:

1. I feel as though my internal furnace has been turned way up. I mean to the point that I wake up in the middle of the night like I'm on fire. It isn't like a hot flash, because I don't sweat. I'm just burning up. My husband hates it because I heat up the whole room.

2. I start getting heart palpitations.

They say that going hyper does feel like you've had too much caffeine...

Hope that helps.

Erica

Thanks, Erica.

That's exactly how I'm feeling.

I'm a bit disappointed because I was enjoying having more energy than I've had in a while, but my endo said cutting the dose down to 6 days a week should do it.

Well, today was just horrible--burning hot all day (the weather was warm, but not terribly hot) and my heart has been pounding. I was too tired to do all I really needed to do today--I think from the pounding heart.

So, I skipped a dose on Thursday, but now I'm wondering if I should lay off the thyroid for 3 days or so to let my body come down from this high, then resume 6 days a week.

Any feedback?

Thanks,
Knit

Thyroid responds to the weather, too. When it's very cold, you need more meds. When it's very hot, you need less. Perhaps upping your dose during hot weather was not the best idea.

Never heard the weather connection before, but it seems to fit the circumstances. Makes sense why I am much more uncomfortable on the weekend (no AC at home) compared to weekdays in my fairly chilly air conditioned office.

It's a funny feeling, both revved up but tired if I try anything strenous because my heart is just pounding at rest. I know exercise would help clear some of the excess out of my system, but I got winded just carrying laundry baskets to the laundry room yesterday. Good grief!

Thanks,
Knit

Hyper causes muscle wasting. Exercise is more difficult because of that. The better thing to do would be to just drop your dose and take it easy for a week or so.

Thanks to everyone. I've been off thyroid for four days (ended up checking with the pharmacist when I went to pick up an rx for my daughter) and feeling much better. I still feel a tiny bit fluttery, but overall much better.

Meanwhile, the weather was in the mid 90's last two days and I was miserably hot--like I usually feel when it gets in the hundreds. I sort of miss that low thyroid chill I always had!

I will start back on the 75 mcg on Saturday, but then only 6 days a week. We'll see how that goes. I did manage to get into the lab when I was feeling way too high, so it will be interesting to see what my level was.

Thanks again,
Knit
