Is it silly to ask for prayers for our family's dog?
I am desperate for some prayers and support. My Mom's dog (well really the family dog) is sick. She's been with us for about 15 years. She's got the sweetest personality and darling disposition. We have had many dogs through the years, and we loved them all, but this little girl has become so much a part of the family.
Saturday is when it started. I called my Mom in Texas and she said that Belle hadn't been able to get up out of her doggie bed much of the day. She was really weak and unable to keep any food or water down. Saturday night, my Mom was up all night her as she was throwing up blood. Sunday she looked for a vet but none were open and so she took care of her the best she could. Monday morning she took her into the vet. He immediately started her with fluids and antibiotics just in case she has pancreatitis (sp?). And he took some blood to test to see if her organs are still functioning properly. We're anxiously waiting for a call any minute about her condition...
We're realistic. We know she's an older dog and that she will have to be leaving us one day. But she seems to be fighting this. Mom and I have both prayed that if it is her time to please God let it be quickly and without suffering. We don't want her to suffer. We're really trying not to be selfish. But Belle just seems to be fighting to stay alive. Up until this, she's been in very good mental and physical health, other then she's blind and has been blind for many years. She has been very well taken care of and loved... And I've never known a happier little dog.
I know that there are many people here suffering right now with illness and death of their human loved ones. And I'm sorry if this seems silly - but our Belle is very much a part of our little family and we as a family just won't be the same without her. Thank you.
Our Belle girl:

I am so sorry you are going through this- it is a terrible feeling when your sweet dog is not doing so well.
I will pray for Belle and for your family.
Please let us know how she is doing.

Girls- we are cysters by chance but friends by choice. I love you girls so much. You give me strength, courage, guidance, support, and friendship
Mom called me and said that the vet finaly got back in touch with her and that Belle was having seizures and that he needed her to get there right away. The test showed her kidneys were indeed failing and that he was going to have to put her down.
Mom called me before she went to tell me and she was sobbing so hard I was concerned for her driving. About an hour passed and Mom called me and she told me she's gone. Its hard to believe. Mom said that she held her while they gave her a sedative and let that work on her. And she said then they gave her the shot and left her alone. And after about a minute Mom said she felt her little heart stop beating. She stayed with her for awhile after she was gone.
But Mom said that when she heard Mom's voice, she raised her head up and seemed to be trying to look in her direction. And evidently she had been so weak that she couldn't walk or move much - so I honestly believe she knew Mom was there. She told her that she loved her, my sister and I loved her. And that she will be missed a great deal.
Ladies I thank you for your concern and caring and prayers. This is a sad loss in our family and we're all so overwhelmed by it... it just doesn't seem real that our little Belle is gone. But the joyous part of it is she can see again, is healthy and she is playing in Heaven right now. I firmly believe that. My grief for her is purely selfish as she is so full of joy right now.
God bless you and yours.

Amber, I'm so sorry about Belle. She will be missed but it must be a little comforting to know that she is not in pain now. ((HUGS)) to you and your family with your loss.

I am so sorry for you and your mom I went through something similar recently with my pet and also asked for prayers from my fellow cysters and they came rolling in. It is not silly at all. GOD created everything , great and small. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you all so much for your support and care. My Mom is being strong. She decided to have her cremated and she was able to get her ashes today. She said they were beautifully prepared in an urn and came with sort of a certificate of authenticity, that it was indeed the ashes of Belle. And a death certificate. She said all of this was packaged in a beautiful box with rosemary.
She's lonely for her, but we all know she's at peace. That comforts us. Unfortunately though we're all selfish and wish she were here, only well and happy as we choose to remember her. Again thank ya'll for everything. Especially your prayers.
Love,
Amber
