this silly fool just booked a doc's appointment... LOL
Hi ladies,
I feel a bit stupid, but I knew I had to do it for my own peace of mind. I booked a doc's appointment for this afternoon (not my normal doc). I am on CD42 or 43 (it was difficult to tell which was the first day of my last period) and there is no sign of AF. Normally it comes every 32-40 days, and I have been on Met for just over four months. I've done two HPT's, two BFN's... but still no AF. So I've just got to do, just got to go to the doc and ask them to draw blood and check.
Plus I'll ask them to check my hormones (E2, P4, LH, FSH) at the same time to see how that's all going, since I want to know where they're at after four months of Met (if I'm not preggers that is, and I don't think I am). At least that will mean I am not 'wasting' the doc's appointment if the pregnancy test comes back as expected...
And we'll have a chat about ideal weight for conception as well while I'm there!
Anyway, just thought I would share that...
Love,
Michelle

Michelle,
Don't feel bad about making an appointment any time you need to! If you have a good doctor they should understand. I've even made a few appointments during my darkest depression days and just sat in his office and cried the whole time! And he said anytime I need to do that, go ahead, and he'll have a shoulder and the kleenex box handy for me!
Hope you get answers about your cycle. I'm technically late now too, at day 38 but mine varies so I'm not to the "worrying" stage yet! Sounds like you have other things that you want to discuss, so I'm glad you're going in.
Hugs
Jenny

I just got back from the appointment. It was a little disappointing I suppose... she doesn't think I'm pregnant, but I got a blood test done anyway.
She said she doesn't think I'm too thin to ovulate (good news!! ) - that was something I was worried about.
But then she said that she thinks the Met isn't working for me and I should just head back to my fertility specialist and ask for Clomid. I told her I already had an appointment booked for early Oct and I doubt I would be able to see him sooner. So there's not much I can do at the moment, but keep looking after myself and DH and keep praying.
I do hope she's wrong though, about the Met not working for me!! LOL I want it to work, I want this long cycle to just be about my body still re-adjusting.
Anyway, it was nice to sit down and have a chat with someone else about what's going on with my body. I actually think she sounded pretty knowledgeable about PCOS, I might head back and she her again next time I need to see a doc.
Love,
Michelle

He sounds like a wonderfull doctor. I wish all of us could have him!!
ajhyer, He's wonderful. I definitely feel blessed to have him taking care of me. He's helped me through a lot. I wish all my cysters could see him too! We all should have a doctor who not only knows about our PCOS but is kind and will listen too.
Michelle, are you going to continue taking the met awhile longer? It took me 10 months of met before I got pg. Not saying you shouldn't try the clomid, I have no experience there! Just thought that if you can stay on the met a little longer, you may see some benefits from that. And I did have a few cycles that were a little "off" even on the met, it does take some time to adjust.
Let us know what you find out
Hugs
Jenny

Yes, Jenny, I am going to stay on it. Like I said, I hope she is wrong about it not working for me!! From what I have read, it sometimes takes a while to work... and some people are very adamant that sometimes things get worse before they get better. Those cysters (like you) have been there, done that, so I am going to take their advice and continue with the Met.
I'm not keen on progressing to Clomid - since we have male factor as well, that would most likely include IUI for us. I am happy to continue ttc on Met and prayer!!
Thanks for your support, and I agree - your doc sounds great!!
Love,
Michelle

Michelle,
I'm glad you're trying the met a little longer. I believe it really helped me, and it has helped so many other cysters. Of course each of us is very different, but met has a good track record as far as I can tell..
I've been very blessed to have a great doctor. Without him I doubt I would even have a diagnosis yet, because everybody else I saw before him seemed completely clueless. I wish I could share him with all the cysters who need a good doctor!
Take care, let us know how you're doing. PM me or email me anytime.
Hugs
Jenny

Oops... doc was wrong about not being too thin to ovulate.
I went to see a PCOS / infertility dietician yesterday and she wants around 7 kgs more on me. I lost too much weight on Metformin and my body completely shut down and isn't even trying to ovulate. The hormone tests I had done last week back this up. She gave me a weight-gaining, insulin-managing diet and says she expects I will regain the weight in about 4 weeks.
Thanks for all your support! I am very glad I went to the doc now!
Let's see how I go on 750 mg Met, with a few extra kilos on me!!
Love,
Michelle
