Default similar situation

Hi, My name is Kelly, I'm 29 and been ttc for about 5yrs with no luck. Had a mc in 2002. My situation is similar. I am 5'2" and weigh 143lbs. I have just been told that I have "Mild" PCOS. I haven't been told that I am IR either, but they want to start me on met because it lowers your insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is what changes your hormones and causes you to not ovulate. My labs all were normal, but the doctor told me that just because they are normal doesn't mean that they can't be out of balance. My ratio between my FSH and LH is "normal" but reversed. My LH is higher than my FSH which is backwards. Sounds like we might be in about the same spot in our journey. I go back to the dr on Thurs, so we'll see what happens.

sounds like we have very similar situations. the more i research PCOS the more symptons i'm finding i have. it's scary sometimes. what symptons do you have? i seem to have the following: coarse hair growth on my chin, neck & chest, weight gain when i hardly eat at all, haven't gotten my period in 3 months (not pregnant), fatigue, moody, depressed, and the list just goes on. my doctor wants to put me on Provera to give my period a "jumpstart" and then wants to put me on Glucophage for the insulin problem, which i'm still trying to understand how that works. after having my daughter i had some health problems with being diagnosed with "Grave's Disease" which is Hyperthyroidism. i had to go through 2 separate radioactive iodine treatments and now i'm hypo, which doesn't help the PCOS. and because of the thyroid problem i had and the treatments involved and now with the PCOS worsening, my chances of concieving are dropping. we would like to have another baby, but if it's not meant to be then we'll be happy with just the one. we will see what happens. well contact me if you would like to talk some more.

Actually the weight hasn't been too bad of an issue. I seem to have plateaued at 140-150. I mananged to lose 20 lbs before I got married in 98, but I put it right back on. 143 is where I stand now, and it is all in my midsection. Skinny legs and arms, but solid midsection.
I have course hair on my chin, a few on my neck, a lot on my chest and from my bellybutton down. I also have mood swings, snap at the slightest things. My hair has gotten thinner in the last three months too. My periods have always been regular, but 32-35 days between. The last three months I have been having my "regular" period, then on day 10 of my cycle I was starting again. This month it hasn't happened though. Also, my periods are excruciating!
My doctor wants to try monitored clomid with provera. Also, one of the nurse practitioners at work said that they put all their patients on glucophage no matter how mild their case. I haven't actually been "diagnosed" as insulin resistant, but she wants to put me on glucophage. I'm still trying to understand all this. I have had a sneaking suspicion for years that I have had PCOS but was told I didn't have enough of the symptoms to be considered PCOS.
After my laparascopy in 2002 to check for endometriosis (they also checked my uterus and flushed a dye through my tubes to be sure they were working right) I did get pregnant but had a mc.
