Out of curiosity I'm wondering how common is it for those who are single and desire children to be able to adopt. Or do agencies normally frown on that sort of thing?
It depends on the agency, but there are lots of single people who adopt. I had looked into it before I met DH (30 was on the horizon and I was pretty sure marriage was not in my future) and even went to a symposium on it - there were a lot of people there who had adopted as singles.
just wanted to drop in and tell you that there are 2 yahoo groups dedicated single parent adoption and single women adoption....just do a search on yahoo groups.
Hello. I would like to adopt.. when the time is right of course, But I was wondering, whats the age limit..like I'll be turning 18 in 62 days. But I want to wait until my 20s before adopting. I would like to adopt a baby..but does that usually happen, or is it usually the older kids first?

If you are doing a foster to adopt...the age does matter...I think that you are going to have to be at least 25 (?)....if you are doing private adoption through an agency, some have their own ages as well some for the most part around 25...g/l!

We took a class about adoption back in September through our agency. Out of 18 people in the class, I believe 4 of them were single folks and there were 7 couples. There was no sense of frowning upon single people adopting. I think it's all about finding the right situation for you!
