I am single and 30. I have always wanted to adopt since I was a teenager. My concern is this: how possible is it to be single and adopt? I want to get married someday when God sends me the right man; but, I worry about is it fair to already have a child when I get married. Would really love to hear you alls opinion on this.
BTW, I was dx with pcos 1 wk ago. Will start on Yasmin during my next cycle.
Thanks for any advice
Angie
I can only tell you my experience with adoption and the Depart. of Family and Children. They definitley allow singles to adopt. You would have to go through the same process as married couples, classes, homestudy etc. Others here can give you more info on domestic (private) or international. This is the best forum for info I have come across and the ladies here are fantastic.
As far as having a child and getting married. I believe if God sends you the right guy then he will also send you a guy who will love your child just as much.
Please fill free to PM me if you need to talk more.

Singles can adopt from China but on a very limited basis. There is a waiting list. I'm sure if you find the right guy, he will understand & love your child just as much as he loves you.
Good Luck!

I sent you a PM, but I wasn't able to go into depth on foster to adopt.
So I also sent you my email address, please feel free to email me anytime. I have found it is great to have "girls" to talk to who are going through or have gone through the same thing.
This board is full or experienced help and they don't mind at all your questions. So ask away.

I'm fairly new to the process but I know that I have read that there are several countries that will adopt to singles, so that shouldn't be a problem, provided you meet their other requirements.
And as for the man, if he's meant to be yours, you'll find him. I had to wait a long time for mine, but I'm glad I did, because he's wonderful.

rachel - are you doing a domestic or international adoption? If you don't mind me asking - how are you financing the adoption? I'm a teacher and don't get paid a whole lot.
Angie, i think it it is something you really want to do then go for it. i just saw last week a single mom on adoption stories adopt a boy from Columbia, i was gushing at the end.
i also agree that the right man would love you and the child too.
good luck, and we are all here.
We by the way we did a public adoption through the ministry, and our son came home to us at 3 months old. Perfect in every way!
