i got my first period in six months this week. should i go to the doctor? or is my doctor just going to renew my bc prescription? Usually I get a period once every 3 months so I dunno if its normal to start skipping more.
How long have you been on BCP's? I don't think it's normal at all to be on them and only have a period every three months. On BCP you're supposed to have one every month, right?

Back to your original question: It isn't normal to skip periods. It means something is wrong with your hormone levels. May want to get that checked out. I'm not a big advocate of the pill, though. All it does is bring on your period and keep some of the sypmtoms in check - it does not treat the underlying problem.
I agree with Japan...you need to speak to your doctor and see what's going on. I also only have natural periods once or twice a year. My doctor prescribed Provera to bring on AF....I usually let it go for about 2 months, and then I take the Provera to bring AF on.
Good luck to you!
