I have 3 - one one both sides of my neck and one in my (!) ear!! They vary in size, but mine are about 1/8th of an inch long...
here's a description of them I found on Discovery Health
"Skin tags are soft flaps of skin that range in size from very tiny to the size of a pencil eraser tip. They do not cause pain unless they become twisted, irritated, or inflamed. "
When I hear "flap of skin" though I don't picture what I have... so I'm not sure if you will either.
Here's another description I found on InteliHealth
"Skin tags may initially appear as tiny soft bumps on the skin. Over time, they grow into a flesh-colored piece of skin attached to the skin surface by a stalk. The tags are easily moved or wiggled back and forth and are painless, although they can become irritating if they are rubbed excessively. "
That is a better description to me... they are like elongated bumps lol
well.. i have these one things that are slightly brownish and look (i cant think of any other description *lol*) a deflated, flat pimple. i have a few other things that are like little hard balls of skin of normal color.
dreamer, could what you have be just a mole? moles range in color from light brown to a dark brown and a few are even flesh colored (having no color). they also range in size, they can be small bumps and even large bumps. some are as flat as freckles. i think that freckles and moles are the same, but that we call them freckles when flat. moles that grow or are larger need to be checked for cancer.
i have moles (very small), lots of freckles, and a few skin tags although my skin tags are very small (thank god). i also have a mole on my right arm that has very little color, very fleshy in color.
as for skin tags and moles of size, you can have them removed by a doctor.

I just had a skin tag removed about a month ago, It was inside of my vagina and it was hanging from my urethra. It look like a tonsil with a weird heart shape at the end of it. I had it for over 5 years and I finally got it removed. I think it is basically an extra piece of skin but it is thicker and harder.
My DH has a colorless mole on his chin. He keeps it covered with his gotee. I think its cute though. LOL

I did a huge search on why we get them once, cause my dad has tons on his underarms, and he didn't know what they were or where they come from. ( I think he's IR, but he runs and eats really well, so he's fit. He was heavy when he was younger.) But I digress. No one knows why we get them, but some people think they're caused by friction (Since you usually get them in skin folds.) And some people think they're caused by IR. I tend to think they are caused by IR, since the people who get them who aren't IR get them much smaller. I think the bigger ones are indicative of IR. But, like I said before, no one really knows. I guess since they're harmless, there's not a huge rush to research them.
Yes! Yes! I have these also... I noticed in the last few years that the number of them on the back of my neck has grown considerably. There are many small "skin tags." I also have one on my eye lid. And some under my arms. I hate them and will likely have them removed some day. They are like flesh-colored raised rough skin. Hope this helps. :o)
I have a couple of these also that seemed to come from nowhere. My dr. says this is a sign of IR that she looks for. My mother has them and some of them she just snipped of with small scissors-she's a surgical nurse so I wouldn't try this myself!
