I use nail clippers or scissors and snip mine off. As long as they are small. I dont think i would mess with a larger one. My mother would tie a string around hers tightly and wait for it to fall off. You doctor can also burn them off in the office.
Good luck!

...but the idea of snipping it off...OUCH!!!does it hurt real bad?
No kidding. I'd burn it off before I'd cut it off. I have been noticing a few new ones on my neck, and one right in the crease of my left leg that's gotten bigger - yuk - bothersome more than anything else.
The ones on the neck bug me, b/c of course, they're visible, but I highly doubt people are going, "omg! she's got a skin tag on her neck"
Prolly don't even know what it is, unless they have PCOS.
I have them on my neck, armpits and in the fold of my left arm.
I would never SNIP them off!! The sound of that makes me cringe!!!
I have had my Family Doctor burn a few off of my neck and it really was no big deal! It didn't even leave a scar!!
I've had a few that actually went away on their own...very slowly. But I had the dr remove one on my neck...it was right where the seat belt rests on the base of my neck, and every time I was in the car the seat belt rubbed on the skin tag. It got to be pretty sore, and BIG. The dr simply cut it off, and it hasn't grown back. No problem.
I have quite a lot of tiny, tiny ones on my chest and the tops of my breasts. Now and then i get them on my chin.
I've never cut them, but i've pinched the one on my chin and man, oh man did it bleed!! I couldn't believe that such a small thing could bleed so much!
If i do remove the tags (i think i might do it before the wedding ~ what if you can see the tags in the pics!!!) i'll ask my doc to burn them. Fast, relatively pain-free and it doesn't bleed.

~I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once~
I had quite a number in my armpits. As though the dark skin wasn't bad enough...I never wore sleevelss shirts and I wanted to, so I asked her about them.
She basically took something about the size of a cuticle nipper to them. They stung a bit, but no big deal. So when I got a few more other places, I thought I'd just do it myself.
I have an antiseptic lotion that I use that helps stop the bleeding...I think a stiptic (sp.?) pencil would work too. It's what men are supposed to use when they cut themselves shaving so they don't walk around with little toilet paper japanese flags on their faces...anyway I digress.
For mine, I just put an icecube in a sandwich baggie, and held it against the area for a while and then quick snipped it while it was still numb. Cold helped with the bleeding too. The bigger ones do bleed a bit though.
I haven't tried this yet, but I'm wondering about solarcaine or benzocaine.
Those of you getting electrolysis regularly may also have heard about something called Emla. It's a topical anesthesia...but I think you need a prescription for that.
I just "pinched" one on my arms between my nails a few days ago, and it's not worth it. It is sore now and kind of red, I think I'll have a dermo do it. Someone told me they took a thread and wrapped it around it and yanked.
Why do they bleed so much anyway?
They are so annoying.
I had one "down there" on my outer labia. I was embarassed to get it checked out at the doctor's (and they never said anything during my exams or childbirth or anything). I self-removed it during an Ambien wake/sleep episode (have you heard about Ambien??). My husband thought I was insane! Strange but true! I had one on my temple too that I removed (it was tiny and flatter). I will keep these tips in mind if I ever get anymore though!
