Feels like a pin prick, takes no longer than cutting a piece of string. Gently pull and snip at the base with a sharp scissors. Just make sure that the skin and scissors are both clean.
Sometimes they bleed a little, sometimes they don't bleed at all. If they do it won't be more than a small cut.
Removing one doesn't cause another to grow. You may get more of them, but whether you remove one or not does not determine whether or not you will get more.
How do u know that removing one or more of them doesn't make make more grow???

They are caused by the hormome imbalance present in PCOS. The skin tags do not in themselves produce or affect hormone levels in any way. Once they're gone, they're gone and your hormone levels remains unchanged by that action.
It's the presence of the hormone imbalance that caused the first ones that may mean you get more eventually, not the act of removing them.
Has anyone tied a skin tag off at home? I've got one on my thigh that's kinda big. Don't have the cash for a Dr. right now. I'm thinking about trying this. I just don't want to get an infection, or something. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
They had someone with skin tags on the tele on an 'Embarassing Illnesses' programme and it didn't appear that they did anything other than tie it off at the base with a piece of nylon thread. They said it would simply die, dry up, and fall off.
I would think if you keep the area clean and dry there shouldn't be any problems, however, if you have had infections in the past or it's a very large skin tag then you'd probably be better off to see a doctor.
Thanks for the info. Would you try this on a tag that's a little less than 1/4" at the base? My husband says try it and see what happens. I've never really had a serious infecton before and I would make sure I kept the area clean and dry.The only real problem is that I'm a chicken and the location...about 1" from the crease of my thigh. Not sure what to do...

I'd try it, but then I'm not bothered doing things like that... I cut mine off.
It's really a decision you should make for yourself. It may be better to go to the doctor if you've never had a skin tag removed, or haven't seen it done, because the doctor will be able to address any fears you may have.
If you do try it then make sure you tie it tightly and check it regularly and see a doctor if anything unusual happens. It should darken and fall off in a week. A friend of mine uses dental floss to tie hers and says it works well.
I have them everywhere. Neck, underarms, chest. I've been debating on cutting them off, but been to afraid too. But people have been saying it doesn't hurt that much? Is there a best method for this?
I heard you can clip them with nail clippers if they are the small ones. I have a few under my right arm and have yet had the nerve to actually clip them myself. When I told the doc I had them, he said it was common in PCOS cases (although he hasn't diagnosed me yet) and didn't seem concerned with them being there.
I found this "cure" accidentally. Had a bothersome tag on my neck which I would get my hair, necklace or sweater caught up on. I put a bandage on it just so I wouldn't hurt. This bandage stayed on it for about 2 weeks (yes, thru daily showers). When I took it off, the tag was gone!!
I got some really good bandages with stick all around the pad (Nexcare). and put it on 1 tag and 1 mole that really bothered me around my bottom bra line. This took about 3 weeks. This morning they were also gone. Now my torso looks like a war zone for all the bandages I put on; I'm going for broke. I think the trick is not to take the bandages off...get good ones. It seemed to smother them...give them no air to live on. And be patient. You can feel when the little tag "bump" is no longer there under the bandage.
SweetGirl55, I can't send an IM because I don't have 30 posts yet, so here is answer to your question:
They are Nexcare Premium pack. It is called the "home'n go pack". Got them at Wallgreens for 5.25 for 52 pack.
I discovered this by accident. I put a bandaide on a neck skin tag (because my sweater kept caching in it) and left it on as long as it would stay thru showers. When I first put it on, I could feel the tag thru the pad. One day, prob about 8 days later, I couldn't feel the "bump." I took bandaide off and...wow, there was nothing there!
Then, I had a tag & a mole under my bra line. It hurt so much I would wad up tissue to cushion it from my bra. I decided to look for a bandage with the stick all round the pad, so water wouldn't get thru. That's when I got the Nexcare. Put it on my tags and this took a little over three weeks, only changing the bandage once. Today, I took it off and both are gone.
I think the trick is to get a bandage that is sticky all around and when you take a shower, don't scrub that part, so the bandaid stays on. Smother that sucker. I always thought that skin tags were a sort of virus, and as such, needed air to survive. Don't really know, but this worked for me.
Be patient, like 2-3 weeks, depending. But I sure didn't want to clip this thing, nor go have it burnt off. This was painless.
I will have to try it I only got 1 skin tag or I think it is one anyways it's where my bra strap is if that makes sense when I go to the store & see the band aids I will probably buy them to try it.
I used to have one under my arm but I cut it & than this one came along which I think is weird.Their so nasty looking & they just suck lol
Thanks for your information
