When I was Dx with PCOS he asked if I had always had skin tags in my underarm and small ones around my neck line. When I told him no these have been only appearing in the last 2 years he said this is usually a dead give away for IR. He also mentioned that those two areas will usually have a darker color then the rest of my skin which is the case for me also but never thought anything of it until then.
And yes I just tie a string or piece of my hair around them and they fall off...LOL ! Its cheaper and it always takes forever to get an apt to the dermo..

Yeah, funny you should mention that I've noticed darker skin colour on those areas. Is that an IR sign too?
I had about 30ish removed when I was in my early 20's. They numbed and cut off big ones and froze off small ones. I have also removed them myself. I used an ice cube to numb and used alcohol on little medical type scissors. I thought it hurt, but not too bad. If there was a small connection to my skin I did it myself. Depending on my location determined if it would bleed. I did have one that bled a lot.
Though I have found the easiest way to do it myself was Dr. Scholl's Freeze Away Wart Remover. I figured that was the way my DR did it, so why couldn't I? It worked fine. Be careful to touch only the skin tags and not to touch your skin, since it is so cold that it burns.

Yes that is a possible symptom; it's called acanthosis nigricans. I have had that since I was 11. My mom and I tried bleach, lemon juice, sun, and scouring pad, nothing worked. When I was 19 I was diagnosed. I went on the internet and read about PCOS. I just sat there and cried when I read the symptoms; it still brings tears to my eyes. Once I found out all my symptoms were related to PCOS, I was less embarrassed. There was a reason, and it wasn't my fault. In addition to having a "dirty neck" I also had extra hair on my face. At 15 I used to go to the electrolysis with my mom to have hair removed. Thankfully I went to get laser hair removal done in my twenties, after about 5-6 appointments 90-95% of the hair was gone...FOREVER!
My mom used to accuse me of not washing my neck nearly good enough. She took it upon herself to come in while I was in the bathtub and commence to scrubbing my neck. Once she realized it was not dirt, she left me (and my now-raw neck) alone about it! It does look really conspicuous, but it may be just because I know it's there.
With the excess hair and skin tags, I have to be really careful about the methods I employ, as I am highly prone to keloids (as if I need ANYTHING else to be wrong with my body), so I just have to deal with the hair until something can be done that has a low risk of keloid development.
Yes i dont get very noticeable ones but they are on my face and neck and i think its from so much sweating from having wacky hormones

Annoying lil things, especially when they get caught in clothing!
