Default Skin tags

Hi Ladies,

Does anyone else have a problem with skin tags???? I don't have many other problems with my skin, although I do have moderate acne from time to time, and of course I have excess hair on my face...but I have been seeing random little skin tags pop up around my neck, hairline (around the nape of my neck) and even one on my eyelid! I know skin tags can be hereditary and my mom is prone to them...but I didn't know if anyone else with PCOS experiences these little annoying flaps of skin.
It's really just a cosmetic thing, they aren't painful, and they aren't in the way of anything else, but I can't help thinking that when my DBF gets close to my face/neck that he wonders what these little skin polyps are!
If you do have skin tags, have you done anything to get rid of them? I know you can go to the dermotologist and have them removed, but I didn't know if there was any "at home way" to remove them? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Yes I have a problem with skin tags too...mostly they are just little ones that I pick at and don't bother me too much. I did have one larger one once and I went to the dr who basically tied a piece of thread/cotton around it and pulled it tight to cut off the blood supply to it and within a week it fell off and i have nothing there now at all..so might be something you can try at home.

I had 2 skin tags under my left arm that popped up during my 1st pregnancy. They were on the smallish side, but I hated them. So when I had an appointment with a dermo to discuss my acne I mentioned them. He gave me a quick injection in both of them to numb them and then just cut them off. I had no bleeding and no pain worse than a paper cut. It was quick and easy!

I have very irritating skin problems but the dermatoligist says it will last for 2 to 3 months only... it was very iching, reddish and scarred to my wholebody except my face. I was thinking if PCOS was related to my skin problem...

I have skin tags around my neckline too. I've had moles removed at the dermatologists office before, but never asked about the skin tags. I'm sure they can remove them no problem...I'm not brave enough to try anything at home LOL

Ughh these little things are annoying. I have had many removed, but they just keep coming back. Some are so small I just pick up them (doctor says is a no no) some are colored and a little too big for that so I have the dermatologist do it if they really bother me. Interestingly enough I just got two new ones I noticed yesterday. Oh, the thread thing also works but you have to make sure to tie it well.

I have developed skin tags in the last few months in the arm pit area. They are annoying and ugly!! I normally pick them off with tweezers. Not sure if they will grow back. I thought it was one of those things that happen as one ages since I am going to be 35 next month, I have been noticing that I am starting to age. Then I recently re-read the symptomes of PCOS and there it was staring right back at me...Skin Tags! Yep, another one of those nasty PCOS symptomes.

My grandma was a diabetic and I am sure I got the PCOS gene from her as many other women in my family have PCOS too. Anyway, she had skin tags and now I am getting them.

Is there a treatment to use to avoid getting them?

a pair of new clean small scissors and some numbing alcohol wipes works wonders. I had my mom do this after it was going to take me over a year to get them removed by a dr and pay a ton of money. i am also going to try the tieing the big ones.

I share the same problem. A few months ago, I noticed that I began to have skin tags on my neck and on my eyelid! It grew so fast and it's so obvious. I had some removed a few months back, and they grew so quick! I particularly hate the one on my eyelid. It's darker than my normal skin color and it's really noticeable. I tried to pluck it out, but it hurts so bad. I really don't appreciate the fact that this is also a part of PCOS. When will this ever end?

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with the issue...it helps knowing there are others that have these annoying little skin tags! I'm going to the dermatologist next week, so I'm hoping to address some of these while I'm there...we'll see what happens!

I had one on my eyelid at some point. I get them on my neck, too, but mostly they are very small and I can "pick" at them and pull them off. The one on my eyelid I was a bit selfish with and CUT it off with a pair of scissors. I don't recommend it because it's not very sanitary or safe. (and it bled like crazy). If you have some that are very bothersome to you most doctors will remove them. As far as I know they will need to biopsy at least one or two to make sure there isn't any type of cancer involved. Sometimes skin tags aren't just skin tags.

I have a skin tag in the corner of my eye (atleast thats where I thought it was, until my dermatologist informed me it was actually on my upper eyelid but had grown to look like it was in the corner of my eye). My dermatologist charges 240 to remove 12 skin tags but he wouldnt touch this one. I had to go to a opthamologist, she told me it was too large to be a skin tag. She said it was a cyst and now I have to have minor surgery to get it removed!!!! So if you have one on your eyelid, take it seriously and go get it checked out.
