Question Skin tags during/after pregnancy?? Help!

I'd never had a problem with skin tags. In fact, I wasn't even sure exactly what they were or what they looked like. Then I got pregnant.

During my pg, a few regular moles 'grew', and I developed a bunch of new, small, raised ones that I could actually scrap off with some effort. They'd hurt and bleed, but at least they'd go away. A mole/freckle thing I had on my leg began to grow, and my Dr sent me to a dermatologist. The dermatologist looked at it and decided it was some type of wart and froze it off with liquid nitrogen. I've never had warts, and I couldn't figure out how the hell I got one on the front of my upper thigh. I asked the dermatologist if it had anything to do with being pg, and he said no. I never thought to mention my PCOS to him.

Once my DD was born, I noticed that a mole I've always had on my neck had grown, and appeared to have a 'flap'. It's like another mole grew on top of the one I already had. It's SO ugly and I keep trying to scrub it off in the shower - mostly out of sheer frustration. It bleeds and hurts like crazy, but it won't go away. Yesterday I bought some wart removal stuff, and I'm trying that. I want to buy the new Compound W, which I believe is liquid nitrogen, but I can't find it here in Canada. There's a thread on this, and apparently it works quite well.

What I'm wondering is whether anyone else has noticed skin tags appearing during pg? I found this so strange and can't figure out why it would happen then, unless it's all hormone related?

Thanks!

I got skin tags and warts/moles while I was pregnant, too. I don't know what the connection is, but I never had them before. Now my baby is 4 years old and they haven't gone away yet. I had a small skin tag on my arm and I cut it off with nail clippers (OUCH), and it hasn't come back yet. But I don't think I'd try this with the bigger ones.

Thanks for responding LRovergirl!

I've heard of ladies cutting them off with clippers too, but this one just seems too big! I'm still going to search for the "freezing" type of Compound W. Apparently it works really well on things like this.

It's GOT to be hormone related. Yick. Another PCOS symptom to add to my list!
