When you get like this, you've got to be really careful. When I was trying to lose a lot of weight quickly, I cut back to 500 or fewer calories a day. I know now that was a stupid idea, but I was depressed about other things and this was a way to gain some control in my life. Anyway, after about a month of this, I had my system so out of balance that I became physically ill, which manifested in some pretty scary mood swings, memory loss, irratic behavior. . .
I am maintaining most of the weight loss I had during that time (going on bcps has helped me gain back some), but it's hard. I don't go in for any of these "diet" plans; just make sure that I'm making good choices, drinking lots of water (i'm so thankful for crystal light to go), and making myself walk or do pilates or something every day.
Don't give up! There are a lot of us in the same boat and we're here for you!

You know i've faught for years with my weight. I've finally come to the desision to see a dietion who deals with women and pcos. My middle daughter went to her first because i wanted to help her get the food issues under control and help her to make better choices. I go at the end of this month.
I know that she'll be able to help me get a better idea of foods to eat. As well as what i should be eating. Honestly i can say this if you eat protiens, such as chicken, fish, lean meats, nuts, yogurt, milk, cheese, protien bar cut up in to small chunks. If i eat stuff such as that i stay fuller longer and don't tire out as eazily.
What i've found in just doing things my self is that if i eat small things, such as a yogurt about an hour to two hours after i've eaten a bigger meal, i can keep going, and i don't feel sluggish. My protien bars are a great way to keep me going as well. I'm not feeling like i'm getting those spikes in blood sugars and then fast drops.
but i would really suggest going in to see a dietion who special in women with pcos and have them help you.
blessed be

I can't stand the way I look after gaining 30 lbs out of nowhere from this pcos.....i get soo depressed to, its awful.....its like im a different person very very bad. ive done like every diet and just going nutty. i dunno right now im doing south beach, from docs reccommendation...hopefully this works cause if not i will make myself gain about 200 lbs to get my tummy stapled. lol i dunno im just thankful they found out whats wrong with me after bouncing around to different doctors...hopefully now ill get my body back!!!!!!!
Yes, all the different "diets" and theories out there definately make it confusing.
Basically it is all about finding a way of eating that you can do for the rest of your life. A lot of cysters do the IR diet because they can do it without having to give up any specific foods. Many cysters do varieties of the Low Carb and find that gives them the best results.
Everyone is different. Take the time to read up on them and seriously ask yourself if you can follow it for the rest of your life. You might find a couple out of the list. Then you can pick one and follow it for 2-3 months and see if you feel better. Some cysters find that they start feeling better right away, and the weight loss follows later.
Of course, no matter what way of eating you follow, exercise goes hand in hand for a healthy lifestyle and long term results. And drink lots and lots of water - it helps your body stay hydrated, prevents bloating, and takes filters the "bad" stuff out of the body.
well south beach went down the drain - yea some foods were yummy but lack of sugar /carbs gave me migraines for days at a time - i mean crying migraines.. ouch......anyway ive begun just eating 1200-1400 cal a day, 30 grams fat max, and tons of protein with workin out everyday even if its for 25 min......ive done this for a month now.. the first 2 weeks i lost 10 lbs .. ihavent weighed in fro the 2nd time yet, thats next week but my bf is tellin me everyday my butt is getting smaller ect.. and this mornin when i woke up i noticed my face looks thinner and my arms.... so i would just definitely eat what u want but follow some rules .. like h ell i had wendys for dinner last night ....... i just make sure i stop when full and i dont go over my calories for the day....its working good and im seein results without spending a fortune on diet food ( i spen 500 bucks buying the foods 4 thesouth beach diet! ) anyway its workin and im happy lol fourth of july i had my funnel cake! and i ate it to! it was only 300 cals and 15 grams of fat - i just work whatever else i eat aroudn that... and with the exercising im feelin pretty damn good!!!!!!!! =0)
Journey of lotus, I have felt that way many, many times. Practically all of my adult life, actually. Depression has always been a battle for me, and my weight has been a big factor in that.
I have found that Weight Watchers is working really well for me right now, but I had to get to a place in my head where I really wanted to commit to losing weight. It took years for me to get there, to get to a place where I realized that I was strong enough to do it. I thought I was too weak before now, but looking back I really wasn't. I don't think it is a coincidence that I got to that place around the same time that I joined on here on Soul Cysters.
Back to WW - I do the online flex plan, no meetings. I exercise every once in a while. I've been doing it for 3 weeks or so and have lost at least 10 lbs. (I haven't weighed myself yet this week). So, it was nice to see some quick results. There are also message boards there on the site that help a lot.
I don't know why I have such a dysfunctional relationship with food, but I'm trying to fix it. Friends help, so let me know if you need a buddy.
