Having hypothyroidism can cause fatigue which in effect can cause sleep issues. If you sleep too much during the day due to the fatigue it can make it harder to sleep at night.
I'm hypo and can't sleep through the night. I wake up at least once, usually 2 or 3 times. Luckily I can usually go back to sleep...but it's very annoying.
I have hypersomnia (my body needs more sleep than most). In one way it's good because I feel better after having 12hrs of sleep but then it's bad because I don't get a lot done.
the doc said natural progesterone would help with sleep too, only I haven't received it yet. I like the fact that it will replace the Ambien I'm currently taking. I sleep like a rock for 6 hrs then wake up and last night I was hot and cold.

Jan, I noticed in your other post that you are taking Armour. How long have you been taking it? Insomnia is a symptom of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), which can come about when you are being treated with more thyroid hormone replacement than you need. When's the last time you had your thyroid levels checked?

I just started it last Tue. I started Ambien after I'd had my hysterectomy
Usually I go back to sleep but I noticed that I'm not going back to sleep as easily if I wake up.

I cannot sleep soundly during nights. Usually wake up 3-4 times and then go back to sleep. Tried doing meditation or reading an hour before I go to sleep. Helped me a bit.
